Product placement is to be allowed on British TV shows, in a move expected to be announced next week.
Independent broadcasters will be allowed to take payments for displaying commercial products during shows.
The change is intended to bring in extra funds for commercial broadcasters.
Experts believe it could raise up to £100m a year.
There are currently strict rules against product placement and this ban would remain in place on BBC shows.
This could actually save Big Brother, which ever broadcaster it could go to would earn a sh*t load especially during the shopping and all the different brands they could advertise
Nice sig btw

Let's hope it doesn't get as bad as some American shows. American Idol and Dixon's 'Dr Pepper's essential for any long trip' line from 90210 spring to mind.

I think shows like BGT, X factor will use this to the full..
But with soaps is when it go all wrong and become tacky.
Product placement in the script?..

I'm sure there will be rules but money talks, hence the end of the ban..
Shows that i'm happy to see it on..
BGT
X Factor
Big Brother
Then again in soap it will only be in the background... But the crazy bit is if shows need these funds so much that scripts are changed to please the ad company, doubt we will get a Truman Show thing.

The product placement wont be overt, it'd make people think "how tacky" then they would tune out

It will only be products in the background..i could be wrong.
I'm sure there will be new rules they must practice with the ban being lifted.
We need more info!

Yeah, there will most likely be rules against making it like a mini advert
For soaps, it will most likely be a long contract, such a Carling paying for people asking for a "pint of Carling" at the bar, or maybe someone asking for a "Dairy Milk" in the shop

Maybe theyll make it only background product placement, and you cant directly advertise something

Don't build your hopes up. Broadcasters have probably known for some time that this change is on the cards.....In spite of no one is interested in taking on the now tired hot potatoe of BB.........After next year it is gone and probably gone for good......
