Even though they split up they will never be forgotten, best band ever. They may get back together to cash in again who knows? But if not, they cannot be beaten.

Even though I went to see Oasis at Sane this year, Blur reuniting and watching them is a lot better than Oasis.....

The released two of the best albums of all time and their B-side album is another great album

but from BE HERE NOW onwards things got patchy

a good 10 years off will do them alot of favours and maybe never coming back will do their legacy no harm

Oasis are so completely overrated, they had a few great songs and then offered nothing but mediocrity. The only band more overrated then them are U2. I agree with Kerplunk's earlier point, Blur was much better.

InOne
15-09-2009, 11:49 AM
There is no way Oasis are overrated, fair enough they went off the rails round the Be Here Now era, but still ace live. Their latest album is quality also. I don't even know why they get compared with Blur, they outlasted them by years.

Please don't compare Oasis to U2! One are one of the best bands in the world the other sadly has Bono.

love Blur, but Oasis > them.

Live Forever, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Champagne Supernova, She's Electric, Lyla, The Importance of Being Idle, Supersonic, Acquiesce, Roll With It, Half the World Away, Rock N Roll Star, The Masterplan, Cigarettes and Alcohol....choooons.

As for their split, it's a shame but I'll live - they've produced enough for me to be happy, it'd be selfish to want more if they don't want to do more.

Ramsay

Wonderwall Champagne Supernova Some Might Say

Anyone who has any sort of taste in music will know Oasis are 10x better. Live Forever is one of the greatest songs of all time. Damon Albarn did a A Level in Music. Noel did a A Level in life.

Everything is pretty much contrived although I don't disagree that they don't like each other that's quite obvious.....the tour was nearly over not much more to do, instead of announcing a break, they "split"...next tour = sell out!

Well I guess we will have to see if Arctic Monkeys can stand the test of time. Alex is already doing bit and bobs with other artists plus shadow puppets

I don't think they can. Arctic Monkeys peaked with their first album and for me have pretty much fizzled out after their second one. I know their latest album went in at #1 but their singles haven't been doing great lately. Plus it was all at a time indie was popular, which seems to have died on its arse now. Oasis, where I hate them now mainly due to them popping up in the papers every now and again, I don't think peaked until about 10 years into their career, I really don't think Arctic Monkeys are gonna be the new Oasis. I give them another 2 years tops.

People (not on here I mean in general) act like they were in the pub every night or something in the early days and right up until the end. But they've always said when they're not on tour or doing an album they barely speak anyway and just do their own thing. So it's nothing new for them to send the odd text now and again and not contact much. It will probably come to a point where Noel gets asks so much and give a simple answer of 'Why?' like Morrissey does. Seen as Noel is killing it on his own. I look forward to his album more than another Beady Eye one.

Oasis won't re-unite any time soon for me.

Noel is doing far too well on his own, he's already playing arenas that Oasis did and that's off the back of just one solo album.

Besides, what's the rush? I don't really understand why fans are so desperate for it to happen already, for fans of both Gallagher brothers we're getting twice as much material to listen to and twice as much gigs to go to than we would if Oasis were together.

It wasn't even 5 years ago they split up ffs, hearing folk go on and on about it every time there's some ****ty article in a ****ty newspaper every day is getting dull. We'll see what happens but it all depends on the success of Noel's solo career IMO. I'd prefer they got back together in another 10 years time as long as Liam still has some sort of voice left by then.
