The moment I thought, BB-Eye has come back!
I never knew he did open this thread. Because he always visited "Easy Listening Music" thread to post his favourite classical music.:shocked:

I wonder how is he doing, I miss him.

I am not a classical music person, but I love popular classic.

Yes, I don't have a huge knowledge of classical music either Sooty and rely on others to 'guide' me as to discover more...BB Eye was someone who was quite knowledgeable and I enjoyed his 'recommendations', which I wouldn't necessarily know myself...I love learning more about...well everything really...LOL

LJ, you are asking the wrong person I am afraid. I wish BB_Eye who made this thread is still around.

But I am passing Covent Garden today. There is a group of student, regularly busking, playing mainly Bach. I will ask them.

I will come back to TiBB late tonight.:blush:

Hello LJ

The group of busker was not student, but professional! (wedding etc.)

Normally I would not think I stop and listen any of busker, but today I waited for them to finish performing.

I asked a member who was playing cello gave me the following information;

* Prokofiev, sonata op. 119
* Peter Sculthorpe "Threnody" or requiem for solo cello

They were playing my kind of music, popular and short!:hugesmile:
Mozart, Bach, Ravel, Tchaikovsky, Offenbach (yes, Can-Can:hugesmile:), and Scottish folk song, etc.

Thanks to you, LJ, I did have a nice time.

just listened to them, really beautiful pieces and really helpful! particularly loved the Prokofiev and Tishchenko (the latter whom I've never heard of before!)

Thanks so much again!

Hi, LJ
Yes, I like Schumann, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky................
I like soft and dreamy type.

But honestly my classical music knowledge is seriously limited.

One day BB_Eye put somebody's photograph.
I did not know how old he was then. I thought it was his picture.
I did not think what type of costume the man in the picture was wearing even it might have been black and white.
When he said it was Wagner I was so embarrassed.
He thought I was joking but I was not!:laugh2:

How about yours, LJ?

LemonJam
16-06-2012, 10:38 AM
hahaha, oh soots <3

I think you have a very good knowledge (better than most people on here ;))

My very favourite would probably be Vaughan Williams but I like all sorts, from the pretty french stuff of Ravel & Debussy to the experimentalism of Morton Feldman to the tv/film scores of Michael Giacchino. Most stuff I listen to is post-1900 so it's always nice to come to this thread and listen to different things :bigsmile:

sooty
17-06-2012, 12:59 AM
Yes, LJ. I noticed you like post-1900. :blush:

How can I forget Debussy!
But if you ask me what type of music I like, I would say dance music, specially I love rumba rhythm, and disco music.:dance:
