Only if I'm supporting an artist like Britney, Mariah etc then I buy the album and the singles. But for most artists I download.

The only albums I've bought this year are Lady Gaga - The Fame and Lily Allen - It's Not Me, It's You :/

I have this converter where i can convert a youtube song onto Itunes so no need to buy CD's. I still bought Cd's up to about a year ago because Limewire was useless for me

Yeah the only singles I buy are Take That one's. I think I'm in the 30's with the albums I've bought so far this year.

YouTube to MP3 converter for singles, or if I want an entire album then I go on BitTorrent and download it from there.

I generally download unless it's an artist I really support [Christina, Green Day, Evanescence, Lady GaGa etc] but that's due to me not having the money to buy CDs, and I don't live at home anymore so I can't really ask my parents.

I do plan on buying the CD format of everything I've downloaded once I'm financially stable because I do like having the CD, just downloading is a lot easier for me atm.

Yes I do I really enjoy looking in HMV for CD's (My fave shop). I prefer a CD to a downloadable album reallly. Feels like you have something. You cant hold a download in your hands.

What i found great about Arctic Monkeys new Album is if you bought the Record you got a code to download all the songs for free...it's a god idea that i think more bands should apply...

I love doing that rambling round HMV and finding a bargain!

I buy CDs if it's an artist that is worth it because they worked on their album themselves and not some person I don't even know who worked on the music and lyrics where the artist gets like a fraction of the song writing costs

AND

if the artist is starting off, makes about 10 thousand pound a year from music.

Otherwise - No.

I will never buy a record from an artist who is record company fodder, like Beyonce, Girls Aloud, somebody from a TV "talent" show contest etc. because they get everything done for them as they have no musical knowledge whatsoever. Most of that money goes to a record company executive or some producer or writer I don't know or some random session musicians. Basically to a whole group of people who worked on a song like a production line.

I buy CD's I like having something physical as the idea of downloading from Itunes and then losing the files ETC it seems a bit risky.

I used to be committed but its just so convient to dl! I still get the occasional CD now and then and always buy Christina's CDs.

in terms of paying for music, I've bought the majority of 09 released albums I've dled this year. Taylor Swift, GaGa, Florence, Miike Snow, Polly Scattergood, Lily Allen, Lisa Mitchell, Frankmusik and Dan Black, I did skive on Little Boots and La Roux tho :P

Amen to that. Why should I buy a Britney CD if she does not even perform live? She has all the input the studio tea boy has.

I buy CD's that I consider complete artistic 'works'. Both the music, the design, and they lyrics sheet. And for artists I like.

Only new release I have bought this year thus far is Bat For Lashes ''Two Suns''.

I now and again buy CDS. I bought 3 oldish greenday albulms from play.com the other day because they were only £3 each. I might ask for a load of cds I like for christmas. It is nice to have cds to open :D I usually buy more dvds. I have been buying quite a few dvds lately.

I don't really download. Well I did have limewire ages ago but it ended up sending viruses to my comp and then I heard if you get caught you get a £2,500 fine or something? I am sure my sister said she knew someone which that happened to? so then I just deleted limewire. I got worried.

Do any of you guys knows of free download music sites which are safe (ish)? lol please

Beastie
28-09-2009, 12:16 PM
Also I like that feeling in a cd there is usually the lyrics to every song on the albulm and it is nice to look through it, sing along with it and that :D I know you can get lyrics from the comp but yeah an actual cd is more special.

I do for Christmas - I go apeshit in HMV with albums that're 2/3 for £10 or something. But otherwise...unfortunately not. I need a new CD rack though.

Lol yeah I tend to find cds which are a tenner each and same with dvds which are like a tenner each a bit too pricey. Well I like to buy cds/dvds when they are about £3 each. Ooo yeah I like the like 3 for £10 deals and stuff!

However I really want to get the lion king on dvd but like it is quite pricy or on some sites the dvd is only region 2 and can only be played in north america or something?

does anyone know where I can get the lion king on dvd please?

Lol thanks but I already go on play.com
Lion King 1 £21.97. I might wait until it's price drops?

It is selling for £10.49 but that is only for north american region 1 or multi region dvd players.

Not sure if I have a multi region dvd player?

Lol yeah I would probs buy it if it was a tenner because classic dvds like that are not being sold for just a few quid? unless I try and find it at the market/ car boot sale?

If you want CDs then I suggest Amazon.

I buy a lot of old CDs from there when I see them for 1p on the resellers. It works out at 1.21 in total.

Bargain.

I only really download if I want one or two particular songs by an artist but if I like most of their songs I buy the CD.

I don't buy CD's.

I usually get my music off forums, but if I like an artist I'll buy a single off itunes.

At the end of the day, support the Artist that you like, because if they aren't getting paid for what they do, eventually they'll stop making music.

Wow, faultless logic there. I like Jay-Z. I better buy his CD or he will stop making music. After all, he has only sold a few million records. Thats simply not enough.

No, it's simply not that easy. Artist sales have to be factored in. I buy CD's of bands I am a hardcore fan of and 'the little guys'. If Kanye West wants to stop making music because only two million people bought his new record, as opposed to the four million that listened, he obviously does not love music that much.
