The Pope is visiting the UK in January 2010, the first papal to visit us since 1982.
It will be an historic day in UK history and the country will come to a stand still as the great man lands on our island and visits our beautiful country.
As it is such a huge moment in our history, how will it affect CBB7?
Last year the housemates got to see Barrack Obama's inauguration speech as it was a big moment in history.
I think that the housemates should be shown footage of the Pope and his speeches. Also have tasks dedicated to Christianity and the house based on a Church theme.
I hope Big Brother and Channel 4 respect Christian viewers by doing the right thing in regards to The Pope.
The Great Man is coming back! I can't wait!!!

Well I could be wrong, but I do not think he will be a housemate, although that would make for good viewing :joker::wink:

the pope visited Australia during BBAU8 and nothing happened
anyway the only reason why the hm were allowed to watch barack inauguration was because 3 of the housemate were American

I think the Pope would be an awful housemate in CBB7. For one all the Christians would vote for him so he might win. And he would have God backing him, and all that miracle stuff would be unfair to other housemates.

If he has a at my neighbours house next door, I wouldn't go to see him.
And if CBB7 do what you're saying, they'll be cruxified by the media for being overtly controversial.
What would the Agnostics, Aethiests, Muslims, Hindu's and other religious peoples say?

I wish people would learn to compartmentalise different areas of their lives and accept that other people have different interests pursuits and dare I say it even lives than themselves.
I dont think the Pope would be interested in getting a mention on CBB, even if he did wouldnt it upset people of other christian faiths?
In other words Gavin get a grip.

I really can not see this affect BB. Programes about the Pope will no be broadcasted at 9/10pm, and besides its a totally different viewing audience.

Actually this Pope (Benedict XV1) has not been to Ireland. John Paul11 went to Ireland in 1979 and then came to UK in 1982.
The Popes visit next year will have no reflection on CBB.

I think Gavin is right. If the Pope is coming to the UK in January then I think people in the celeb bb house should look at video footage of the pope's speech! Whether you are christian/roman catholic or not is irrelevant. It is just about showing a bit of repect. I think there should be like a religious task in cbb!

Why should anyone respect a cult, which is responsible for the massacre of millions of Jews, Islams & Protestants. The Pope should use his visit as an opportunity to apologise for the millions of children abused by pervert priests.

If I was in the house and I was told to watch the pope's speech I would be deeply offended as it has nothing to do with me or my beliefs. It would be completely ignorant to have people from different faiths watch it.
The Obama speech was only played into the house for the American housemates. It was history for them (especially Coolio and Latoya) so would have been unfair to leave them out of it. But noone gives a sh*t about the Pope

I don`t think it will have any affect on CBB at all. The housemates will probably know about it anyway before they go in as it`s bound to be broadcast on the news and in the papers about his visit.

i don't think religion and reality tv go together. i don't believe in god and don't want to have it shoved down my throat when i want to watch tv. i respect other people's choices to believe in religion, but it shouldn't be forced into the homes of the country
if the public want to watch the pope's speech, turn the channel

In actual fact Pope Benedict's visit to the UK will not be until the AUTUMN of 2010.......no dates have been announced yet....certainly nOT January!......this Pope rarely travels during the Winter its only been announced that he wILL come during next year......
it is thought very likely to be an Autumn visit as no papal visit would take place during a General election campaign, due in the next 6 to 8 months.............since the General election has to be between early spring until early summer , for diplomatic reasons it has already been discussed in catholic circles that it will be AFTER the Election almost certainly.
If anything ,the Papal visit willl probably be during BB11........Benedict could nip into the last ever BB and CHOOSE the winner of the final ever BB!...it would save weeks of the PUBLIC getting it wrong as they have with Rachel, Sophie,Pete, et al........ha ha.......:joker:

I think it would be more disrespectful to show them the speech than to not show them.
BB relies on it's gay fans. They will not be happy if some tw*t that claims they should all be killed is glorified.
