Aqua 'recording new studio album'

Aqua have revealed that they are working on a new studio album, expected to be released next year.

The Danish pop group, whose Greatest Hits collection is out on September 28, claimed that they are planning to update their sound on the new record.

"It's more serious. What we are able to do is go in a different direction but you'll always be able to hear it's us because we have this Scandinavian style and we both have distinctive voices," singer Lene Nystrøm told Attitude.

"We're back to the naive, green feeling we had when we started out."

The four-piece, who got back together to tour Denmark last year, claimed that the experience encouraged them to reform permanently.

"It was more than fun," Nystrøm said. "It was absolutely amazing. [Record label] Universal wanted to release the greatest hits and we added songs to that. Now we just want more! We can't stop now."

Aqua's new single 'Back To The 80s' is out now.

Aqua: X Factor 'easy entertainment'

Aqua have blasted shows like The X Factor, describing them as "easy entertainment".

The Danish pop group, who have reformed for their Greatest Hits collection and new single Back To The 80s, watch the reality singing competition regularly, but are aware of its darker side.

"It's easy entertainment, it's good entertainment and the TV companies know what they're doing - I think it's bad in the sense that society has become so focused on fame - kids are growing up, exposed to all these TV shows like The X Factor and Big Brother, which are so focused on becoming famous just for the sake of fame, and that's the part I don't really like," said Lene, the band's frontwoman.

"Many of them are young people and it's hard to keep your head straight when you are that young."

Her bandmate Rene added: "There have been too many bad things we've heard from people who have been on those shows. They're exposed in a certain way but sometimes they expose some people in the wrong way," before quipping: "I think Simon should change his T-shirt. He has the same T-shirt on for every show!"

Claus chipped in: "It's a great show in many ways - I like watching it, it's popular everywhere - but it's hard to maintain success when you walk out from that show. That's the bad side of that coin."

CD + DVD reissue for Aqua's Greatest Hits

After spending 16 weeks in danish Top 10 Albums (3 of them at #1 spot), Aqua will reissue their Greatest Hits CD in Denmark during next month. Titled Greatest Hits (Bonus Edition), it will be a CD + DVD.

The release date seems to be the 16th of November and we can already confirm its contents. The tracklist of the CD will be similar to the standard edition (but with the new song Spin Me Your Christmas and the classic Good Morning Sunshine appearing instead of Be A Man). The DVD will include the full recording of the concert that Aqua performed past 7th of August at Tivoli (Copenhagen).

This will be the first live DVD from Aqua, and also the first time that Shakin' Stevens appears on an official release (only in live video form, though).

Because of the poor charting of the original CD it will not be sold here just in Denmark.

First of all it seems that the name of the brand new Aqua song is not “Spin me your Christmas” but “Spin me a Christmas” and second… we just love it! It is a very good song to listen all the year and not just during Christmas.

The song has been written by Soren Rasted and Claus Norreen.

On November 19th, Aqua shot in Copenhagen the promo video of their upcoming single Spin Me A Christmas, a new song included in the Greatest Hits (Bonus Edition), which has just been released in Denmark.


Like you could guess by the title and the lyrics of the song, the video is set in Christmas time. Lene is a villager who gets lost in the snow. René Dif appears disguised as Santa Claus, Claus as a green elf and Søren as a pastor. It promises to be a very fun, classic Aqua video.

Aqua announced in an interview that they would release a brand new studio album in 2010. There will be no tours in 2010 as Aqua will be in the studio working on the new album. They said in the interview that they decided to release a new album because Back To The 80s and the new Greatest Hits (2009) did so well.

There are rumours that their unreleased songs, including Shakin Stevens (Is A Superstar) will be included on the new album.

Aqua will not tour this year but anyway we will have the opportunity to see them live this summer!

The band will play the 12th of June at “Rock Under Broen” (Rock Under the Bridge) a Danish festival near the city of Middelfart under the bridge that links the island of Fyn with the peninsula of Jylland.

Tickets for the show are already available and from what we can see on the official web site of the festival the first 5 thousand have already been sold. The entrance ticket costs 455 Kroner (61€ / 83$) and this is the link for buying the tickets on line: BILLETnet.

At the moment this is the only opportunity to see Aqua live this summer as the band is busy recording their third studio album. We really think that this will be the right place to present some of the new songs!

She was with René before (The bald guy) but taht was only short term. He has a partner now, he is just the lead male singer from the group. Søren and somebody else (Claus) are repsonsible for the production.

I must admit the video is not that good, It has no plot and no fun of which AQUA videos are know for. The song has had some autotune used in it but AQUA were known for using it in the past. However Lene's voice is not irritating :nono:
