Frankie Boyle has quit current affairs satirical quiz show Mock The Week after seven series.

According to a statement from the BBC, the acerbic team captain has left to 'concentrate on other TV commitments' just a week after he missed filming the show for the first time, reportedly because of an undisclosed illness.

The news come as it was confirmed that the show has been recommissioned for two more series by BBC Two.

BBC Two controller Janice Hadlow said: "Mock The Week is a major part of the BBC Two schedule, regularly delivering wit and energy to an enthusiastic audience.

"This two series commitment shows just how much we value it."

Angst Productions series producer Dan Patterson meanwhile released a statement saying: "Frankie has been a brilliant member of the team since the beginning and the door is always open for him to come back. We wish him all the best with his other projects."

This is worse then Simon Amstell and Bill Bailey leaving NMTB! Ugh and Zac, your idea of good comedy is probably a My family Marathon.

Wow, all the good panel shows are going down the toilet. First Buzzcocks, and now possibly Mock The Week. *Crosses fingers that the next announcment wont be that Stephen Fry is leaving QI*

he was funny, but I found he useually spoke over the others on the show, this might be good in a way as we can hjear other people trying to be funny!

Was that the greatest post of sarcasm of all time, or an admission of not understanding the concept of humor?

Andy Parsons has the same, boring routine of talking in his retarded voice and making ****ing obvious jokes that you'd find in The Sun.

Russell Howard is pretty boring- his humour is very immature and 'random'. He can make some good jokes though, but he mostly shouts childish ****.

Ah well. There's still Hugh and Dara. And some guests can be good [as long as they aren't Gina Yashere or ****ING JACK WHITEHALL.]

Don't like dara much, as jon was saying about frankie, dara seems to talk over people and steal their jokes.

God, what is this?
The Soviet Union?! Must we all submit to Frankie Boyle or else?
I don't like him either, I find him smug and conceited and Mock the Week was becoming The Frankie Boyle Show.
Am I going to get lashings now?

Thank you! Someone who agrees! He was just taking over the show - not giving anyone else a chance.

I think I'm not alone in saying I'd rather see Frankie Boyle dominate than half an hour of Andy Parsons and Russell Howard spreading out the **** jokes between them.
