I just heard this on Jules Holland. It's a Soul version of a Country song by Kris Kristoffersen and probably the best version.

I had to buy another cope of Superfly because I overplayed the first one. Drove my brother mad cuz he's not so keen on that type of music but I love how he combined that gritty urban texture with his silky smooth voice and ultra cool sound. A legend.

Actually my dream is to play bass in a band like that lol, or to integrate that kinda rhythm into any band.... it's just magic stuff, and it never feels aggressive or forced. Very difficult to have that kinda power and yet be so delicate with it. Think this clip illustrates it perfectly.

I have There's a Riot Goin' On and I agree with you completely. Don't listen to it alot but it's quality whenever I do.

its a tough album to listen too but the story behind the making off is classic.

I actually am fond of Shakira but wouldn't class her as soul. You wont see me knocking Amy Winehouse when she sings like that.... hard to class her music though...R'nB and jazzy but definitely has that soulful voice. Wish she'd get her act together cuz she's a star, there's no doubt about it.

God bless YouTube. You can find quite a few of the older classics on it at the moment if you look hard enough. Have a few I want to watch but I always find that I end up surfing when I watch films online. Concentration disappears.

I've been watching a lot of rubbish recently although I did have a look at The Best Years of Our Lives because I'm a sucker for a good old black and white. I had to go to Watch Movies net to find some of the ones I really wanted to watch like Bad Day at Black Rock and THe Ox-Bow Incident (an absolute classic by the way). Oh, I watched a bad copy of The Lion in Winter on youtube. Loved every minute of it.
