Which country's TV is your fave and why?

UK TV, when compared to US TV, is quite intelligent, I'll give you a quick example

Animals do the funniest things (UK)
Okay, not the most 'intelligent' show on UKTV, but that makes it better to compare, but if you ever watch the American version you will see what I mean, on the UK version, it shows animals, doing funny things, like it says on the tin

Animals do the funniest things (USTV)
Well, where do I begin, their segments of the show each have their own segment, most annoyingly "Animail" in which viewers letters are read out, the presenter is often seen acting like a dick (or a news reader)

ALTHOUGH...I'm not saying American TV is totally stupid, there are some really good and clever shows (CSI, Law & Order ect.)

ON TV
I want TV from all around the Word.

At this time the best on TV is Flash Forward on Ch5.
that is Movie Quality on TV.

There is even a English Iran TV
PressTV Sky515.

It is great to have many Live News stations
only Sky has the most.

Virgin is the worst.

And ITV's Law and Order :UK
is great filmed in London.

I think both have pros and cons. UKTV does drama better as it's usually more realistic while USTV can do a lot more blockbuster-esque shows like Heroes and Flash Foward since they have a bigger budget.

Probably UKTV. But im kind of getting bored with all the gritty Northern dramas.

No both have goos shows
Ch5's Flash Forward, at this time
is better than any UK production
and has a lead UK actor in it.

So USA wins hands down
Fact.

Everyone always bigs up UK TV but the best independent and new ideas are always sidelined for longrunning, and in my opinion, **** shows. Soaps are my biggest hate - I don't understand how anyone can watch the same family week in, week out, doing pretty boring ****, only to culminate in ridiculously plotted and unrealistic 'exits'. The acting is awful and it's generally depressing.

But fresh dramas and sitcoms and what not - examples in recent years from the UK being "Pulling", "The Beautiful People"...these are BBC sitcoms that have lost out to the likes of Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

How that piece of utter ****ing mess keeps getting re-commissioned I do not know.

With the US, the industry and sheer diversity of channels available makes sure that good TV gets made, even if it's not in the mainstream.

I have to agree.

There is at least two great tv shows on every US network. On ABC you have Flash Forward and Lost. NBC, The Office and Heroes. CW, Vampire Diaries and Smallville. The list goes on and on.

US tv is just much better.

The things that put me off US TV is that they use music to tell you how to feel, and some of their shows have background music CONSTANTLY, which gets really annoying

I love USTV but ussually it's too over the top and a little patronising. Both have their strengths and weaknesses it's just that ussually american TV hides theirs with explosions. :joker:

Both, I love trashy US shows, Desperate Housewives etc. but I love some British shows too, Skins etc.
British kids shows though are hilarious, American ones always seem to have the same predictable storylines.

I adore American Commercials. Like there's one about Cadbury Chocolate and these kids are moving their eyebrows and then one of them pulls a balloon out of nowhere.

The commercial actually has nothing to do with the chocolate though. :joker::joker:

UKTV-A lot of reality shows/quiz shows/panel shows,BB,chat shows,Top Gear,C4 progammes with people like Gok Wan,cookery progammes, like the ones with Jamie Oliver and Gordan Ramsey,Hollyoaks, comedy shows

USTV-Grey's Anatomy,Private Practice,Desperate Housewives,Friends,The OC,Lost etc

So basically I watch UKTV for real life stuff and USTV for all the dramas. Need both!

There aren't any Cadbury commercials in the US, in fact they don't even sell them.
