Was Ant's Myra joke out of order or hilarious?

Just wondering what other posters thought about Ant comparing Craig in a wig to Myra Hindley. I personally thought it was hilarious and am still laughing now. However i realise that comparing Craig to a child abductor is not nice. I can see how Craig must have felt completely humiliated around the table especially as he had told Ant not to say it. I know its not politically correct but come on folks own up if you thought it was funny.

So was Ant out of order?
Should Craig have just laughed it off?
Was Craig completely justified to be annoyed by Ant?
Did you find it funny?

I found it funny because he really did look like her. However I can obviously see why Craig would be absolutely gutted about that comment. I would hope that Myra Hindley was looking up from hell to be disappointed that people hate to look like her, even if they're only in a wig. If anybody saw BBLB the other day with the passport pictures and Craig looking like a psychopath, then I would have thought Anthonys comment was even more spot on haha!!

I think Craig blew it all out of proportion. It wasn't Craig's features Anthony was comparing as such, more the wig itself and not just to Myra Hindley but to her famous mugshot and 1960s beehive hairstyle (which was common at the time) and which circulated the world after she was arrested and everyone remembers her by.

In later years Myra Hindley had shortish brown hair.

I think the makeup Craig was wearing added to the effect and that he really did have a strong likeness to her but, as he has asked Anthony not to repeat the joke, I think Anthony should have respected that request and how he felt about it.

If someone says they are offended by something and you then choose to repeat it that is out of order however strongly you may feel that it is the case and that you are making a valid point. Not to stop is rude in the initial stages but it soon turns to being something far nastier.

Having said all that, not to talk to Anthony for 4 hours was idiotic too so they were both being silly, as lovers often are. :laugh:

To get back on topic - anyone who knows the story of Myra Hindley can understand why Craig got upset. The crimes that woman committed were horrendous.

But as usual Craig made a mountain out of a molehill. If he hadnt reacted it would have been over and done with and completely forgotten within seconds. Most of them probably dont even know what she did. But there he was sulking for hours on end

Anyway Craig the family think my mother-in-law looks like Rosemary West and my mother-in-law is great so as a child killer look a like you are in good company.

I can totally understand why he wouldn't want to be compared to such a despicable person as Myran Hindley, but Anthony wasn't saying that Craig was like her, just that he looked like her in the wig. If Craig had just said something like "ha ha very funny" and shrugged it off, it would have been forgotten. As for not speaking to Anthony for four hours, I should have thought that would have been a blessed relief for Ant.

He wasn't referring to Craig as a child murderer - he was just saying that the wig made him look like Myran Hindley. Myra Hindley was evil incarnate as far as I'm concerned, and I wouldn't want to be compared to her. But Anthony was not saying that Craig was like her - just that he LOOKED like her in that wig. And if Craig had not completely overreacted (the way he does to everything) Anthony probably wouldn't have said it again.

Ok Anthony wasnt saying that he was the child murderer agreed, but if someone said i looked like her (which i dont!) i would probably get upset ......although not as much as Craig did

Exactly right. The way Craig went on, it was as though Anthony was accusing him of being like Myra Hindley. Craig needs to calm down and stop overreacting and taking everything so personally.
