but still it shows people didn't care for the way she looked,

It's just down to the main viewing/voting demographic. The majority of viewers are young people, many of them girls.

Young girls are known to support people in TV shows like the XF based on looks. It was the reason Leon won, Eoghan won 6 shows (even though I liked him), Anthony won Big Brother etc. Lloyd, Danyl & possibly Joe will go very far this year because of it.

There's nothing that can be done about it, the producers love it because it rakes in millions of pounds. The way to defeat them is to make sure that you and fellow fans vote for your favourite a lot, there's usually always a time when this happens such as Leona, Alexandra etc, but young girls vote a ridiculous number of times so it's always going to be difficult.

Lloyd is a hottie<3 but i'm not voting to keep him in because hes "hot"
I vote because i think hes got a good voice and talent.
