They've made it more like the original logo.

(Back to basics? Oh dear, does this mean back to cheesy, badly written tripe?)

It wont be badly written with Steve Moffat at the helm.
I think its an entire relaunch of the franchise. Series 5 for instance is being classed as Series 1
