Im trying my best to find a job at the moment with my Mum and Dad on my back all the time!!

So on Friday i planned to handin CVs to as many places as i could.
I only managed to hand 1 CV and that was at Burtons! I tried the following places but they said no, WHSmith, Superdrug, Topman, Republic, Rover Island, Waterstones, Ryman and Tesco!!

The thing is they could be more nice, but they say "No, we do not have any jobs going!" like its my fault!!

But my sister works in TKmaxx and they said they want to look at me (dont ask why lol), they want no CV, no interview... just to have me come in... they want to see if i look appropriate!! Probably because my sis has been working there for years and they trust here!

Tomorrow im going to hand in one for Next too.

Any other places do you think need staff??

I thought it would be terrifying but everyone asks, just go up to the till and ask "By any chance is there any jobs going round"... and most of the time they say No. So i say "Thank you" but i would rather shout at them and make me have a job... i will beg next time!!

I havnt applied online, but i will print out a few application forms from the internet.

Some places judge on appearances, it happens at my place
Have you tried the supermarkets? they normally always want staff

Yeah they do i can tell.
Burtons told me no jobs were available, then looked at my clothes (as i was wearing stuff from Burtons including a scarf), and they told me to give them my CV so they can contact me first if any jobs are needed.

So I think it has a lot to what your wearing and what you look like!

I have the same problems. But I have some advice.

1. Even if some places aren't taking on any staff at the moment, hand in your CV anyway so that if something comes up your CV will be at the top of the pile.
2. Don't use the Jobseekers website to look for jobs. It's horrendous. It's really difficult to find any employer information to contact them directly.
3. Use Monster.co.uk. You can upload your CV and attach a cover letter which makes applying to jobs less time consuming and you get new vacancies delivered to your inbox every day.

I know what you mean but round now for christmas temps you might have more of a chance than say jan, feb time
The worse bit is when you do get an interview then say oh you need more experience

What really irritates me, is that they require all these qualifications and tons of experience for a mediocre low pay job.

Getting your first job is a right b*stard but once you've got it its not really hard to get ones after that

Print your CV out on faint yellow paper because it stands out more

Everyone's gotta start from the bottom. It shouldn't be hard getting a temp christmas job. That's how I did it.
