A human X-ray machine that produces "naked" images of passengers has started a trial at Manchester Airport.
The authorities say it will speed up security checks by quickly revealing any concealed weapons or explosives.
But the full body scans will also show up breast enlargements, body piercings and a clear black-and-white outline of passengers' private parts.
The airport has stressed that the images are not pornographic and will be destroyed straight away.
Needed security device or invasion of privicy?
My question is how long before someone hacks into the system or have they already considered that?

well considering its up to the passenger if they want to walk through and noone is being told you have to or you dont board plane i cant see it getting much use anyway personally i welcome any means to find weapons etc
This will never be passed into being used all the time, its our rights of privacy not to have to walk through them.
Are some people really that insecure they won't walk through it?

I don't think being insecure is the reason, just personal privacy.

But its not as though its recorded who it is, one person will see it, it isn't stored and they're going to see thousands every day.

Its not really an invasion of privacy though, its anonymous and once the observer has said they aren't carrying a bomb then the picture is discarded. And they're going to see thousands every day so they probably don't really care or will notice what your privates are like

Privacy aside, a lot of concern is with babies and pregnant woman and the dangers of the X-rays to the child and the fetus, especially if the woman is in the first trimester.

Have they actually said they're not letting children use it? 'Cos the article didn't mention it and that would make me against its use!
If children don't use it, then it's fine imo. It's only my naked body.
