A protest against Simon Cowell organised by Shayne Ward fans went ahead as planned on Saturday.

Supporters of the X Factor winner gathered outside a radio station in the star's home city of Manchester to raise awareness of their anger at the way he has been treated.

The singer recently announced that his third album has been pushed back until February or March next year. Fans have not heard any new material from Ward since his 2007 disc Breathless, which achieved platinum sales.

On Saturday, the star's supporters came together at Key 103 Radio Station to lobby for an earlier release date.

The group sang: "I don't know what I've been told/Wardy's album's still on hold/This just isn't good enough/We want him to do his stuff."

They went on to chant: "We want Shayne! We want Shayne! When do we want him? Now!"

Some fans were seen holding signs describing Ward as "Pride of Manchester", while one sported a Cowell comedy mask.

Shayne's manager Louis Walsh recently said that he has not been given "a fair crack of the whip".

Shayne was a victim of the old way really, he'd have been a lot more successful if he won post Leona as they started to utilise the acts better then with the exception of Leon but he was never gonna be commercially successful anyway.

I ADORE Shayne, he's really been treated badly by his label.
He needs some kickass material, a mix of Justin Timberlake/Jesse McCartney style uptempos, and some OneRepublic/Leona style ballads.

I hope his third album is huge.
