Obviously theres crossover for everyone but what do you mainly see it as?

I see it as an entertainment show which is why I don't get why people hate the rubbish but entertaining acts so much year after year

MAinly entertainment or me. I mean how many of them really become stars? And there is a reason why people really like the rubbish auditionees.

Entertainment during the auditions, I watch them mainly to laugh.

But by this stage it should be about talent. Which is why i dont understand John and Edward being there...

I don't really see it as about the talent until we're down to about the final 5, unless they're all **** like series 4.

Vicky's generally got it right, audition's mainly for entertainment while the live shows are about Talent, or marketing that talent to a potential buying audience.

Ama, so far it's drawn even, We've had Leona (worldwide star) and Shayne Ward (two platinum albums under his belt) and it looks like Alexandra's gonna do well for herself so 3/5 ain't bad. I think it's better then American Idol's record was at the same point.

Yeah i guess thats a fair point.

Though surely out of the thouands of people who apply, they could find just TWELVE with outstanding talent though...instead of a couple and the rest average or slightly above.

Judging by reports from the auditions really good people get turned away whilst crap and OK people get to see the judges

They put some of them through to see the judges just for entertainment...thats pretty obvious, they are so bad.

I know someone who went to the x factor auditions, she is absolutely brilliant. The only problem is she doesnt have the right 'look'.

No way if it was just about the singing would she not have got through. She is one of the best singers I have ever heard...

My mates sister went to an audition.. didnt even get to see simon to my knowledge.

She had the whole package, seriously amazing voice.. and slim blonde and pretty like seirously pretty.

Yet she got turned down for it..

Talent is the least important thing on the show
its about looks and sob stories

Entertaiment which is why it does so much better than BGT

I have been to the auditions, you can trust me on this. It is 100% an entertainment show.
What you see on TV is not what you think you see.

(Yet I am incredibly addicted still)

Errm, This year's BGT got the best audience for a UK TV show in 5 years (might have been ten, not entirely sure on that part).

For the likes of Leona and Alexandra it was a talent search - they've both done well. But J&E... pfft.. makes me think they just want to make the show entertaining

they are NOT boring, they are different, they have charisma and they are PURE entertainment. If they go this or next week which I am sure they won't, most of you and even the haters will say the x factor is boring.

But they aren't singers, and the level of hatred they get shows that they aren't charismatic or pure entertainment. They're the gimmick act, not an integral part of the show. They won't be remembered when they leave no matter how much Dermot and Holly are told to shove them down our throats.
