Last year, when Ruth was voted into the Bottom Two, she sang 'Purple Rain', stunning everyone who'd previously sorta overlooked her. She always seemed to perform better in the Showdown, and I believe that's why she lasted so long.
Who do you think will be the surprise Showdown act this year?
We waited 5 years for a 'Purple Rain', I doubt we'll get another any time soon. She even stunned me and she was my favourite by a mile last year so I'd love to know what the effect was like on those who weren't keen on her

Hmm, I think Stacey could be one to watch.
She seems to be quite overlooked atm, I think she could pull off something amazing in the showdown, perhaps Eva Cassidy style.

If - and it's a huge if at this stage- Rachel can regain her confidence and find a song that is suited to her particular style she'd be the one to look our for.

She needs to be saved this week. To start rebuilding her confidence again, she must feel like s***

She didn't deserve to be in the bottom 2 this week...don't care what anyone says.
Has the strongest voice outta them all so just needs a soulful, warm song and she'll be set.
I think Rachel is capable of it, as are Miss Frank. I think Danyl and Jamie would be capable of ace bottom two performances, but instinct tells me they'll last into the last 5 and wouldn't ever be in the bottom two.

To be honest, I can't really see any of them doing anything close to Ruth's

Who was Ruth in the bottom 2 with?
I hated that Bitch,
and in reply to the OP, I think Lucie but you said a 'Shocking' Performance, shes always brilliant..
So other than her, no one..
Unless Jamie does an amazing Rock tune
Ruth was against Girlband and Laura White. You hated her? Why?

Easy.
None of them are good enought to pull a "Purple Rain" moment.
The thing about Ruth in the bottom two was that it showed that, if allowed to do whatever the hell she wanted, she was incredible - but when it comes to conforming to a theme; not so much. I still thought she was good on the shows; but some acts really shine when they're in the bottom two.
