CONTROVERSIAL X FACTOR twins John and Edward Grimes landed the highest number of public votes at the weekend, The Sun can reveal.
The bombshell has sparked fears the Irish duo could give Simon Cowell his "worst nightmare" and become the shock WINNERS of this year's show.

The news emerged as police were called to control hundreds of hysterical fans who yesterday laid siege to the X Factor house, where the telly finalists are staying together.

Show insiders were stunned that the 18-year-old twins, from Dublin, came out top despite their virtually tone-deaf performance on Saturday night.

Meanwhile cocky favourite Danyl Johnson narrowly escaped the boot after landing in the bottom two.

Whats funny is if these guys won Sunday Nights Show, and only Northern Ireland and The UK can vote..then Imagine what would happen if The rest of Ireland could vote!

They won't win. Eoghan won the majority of the shows last series, but only got third. I hope they make it far, I'm praying for semi-final, but as mich as I adore them, I know they won't win.

also it is a win win situation, we will not get a boring predictable winner and this yes will cause controversy but will give x factor and simon a lot more headlines and attention.... and of course louis :D he will win the x factor for the 2nd time!

I am not rebelling. I think its because there is a lot of passionate fans out there for them. However I agree with you that some could be "rebelling" but I genuinely love J and E :D I mean I support who I support. I dont just support someone because they are the "underdog"

I supported Freddie all the way through bb10 and he was favourite to win throughout most of bb10!

I very much doubt that they are topping the vote at all. I think that this is a story planted by the show which takes the negative attention away from Danyl.

We know the week producers want J&E out, they'll be singing first. They did it with MacDonald Brothers in week 8 series 3, and they'll do it with J&E. Simon was so desperate to get them out he even kept the 'bottom 2' for an extra week.

They did with Sharon in series 4. they let Sharon go without and act for 4 weeks after Alisha was eliminated. Although with Alisha, it was obvious the producers did all they could to keep her in - she was in the bottom 2 for 2 consecutive weeks, and then safe 2 weeks. And after Emily had been removed from the competition, they had to give Shazza a chance I suppose.

The difference with Louis and J&E though is that J&E will get through fair and square for a few more weeks, I hope.
