View Full Version : Derek's Popularity

People who read Channel4's BB reviews will have read about Orlaith's reasons for walking. Apparently she says her main reason for walking was because of Derek.
Do you think that now the public will dislike Derek for this. Or do you think the public will like him even more for contributing to the downall of Orlaith. Or do you think that there will be little or no change in his popularity?
I think the housemates will nominate him now because of this.

I don't think it will affect his popularity outside the house.

Incidentally, although I don't like Derek, I think a lot of what he said about Orlaith was true.

I think he is quite popular with the viewers. He gets quite a lot of cheers when his name is called. I don't think he will win though.

I don't want Derek to win either. I don't think he will, although he will probably be in the final four. Saying that though, there are five left, and it's hard to say who is likely to be the next evictee. I'm sure Derek will be up for eviction next week, and probably Eugene. That will be a close call.

Fair play to Derek he did a brilliant job at getting Orlaith to leave, he wont go up or down in my estimation because i didn't particulary like Orlaith anyway.

It depends on how vindictive Orlaith is this week and how much publicity she can get for the anti Derek campaign.

If she gets a paper or two on her side she may have quite a lot of influence but it will be balanced out by Kemal saying how great Derek is. Thoaugh tht in itself may be good as it will negate a lot of Kemal's compliments so form the POV I am pleased. Kemal is bound to get more publicity than her though just for being Kemal.

I think Orlaith could be very vindictive if she wants to be.

Derek's gone up in my estimation for getting rid of the whinging cow. Now she'll make the most of her 15 seconds of fame (or suffering as she'll probably describe it) from the tabloid newspapers, girly magazines and modelling agencies desperate to sign up waving cheques.

I bet she doesn't even have the courtesy to reunite with the housemates when the show's over.

Absolutely! She spent all last night bitching about Derek in a bitter diatribe blaming him for why she was going to leave and referring him as "that evil man". Come on Orlaith! Yeah, Derek's a bit of a snob and likes to bitch but you can give as good as you get, love. And she won't stop now she's out either.

Let this be a warning to anyone who dares get the wrong side of Orlaith

I use to like Derek at the start of the program I thought he was playing a ingenious game with a great deal of whit. As the weeks have gone on and after Roberto left I think we started to see the Derek real game. I found that his new game plan was nasty and devious. It could have been the same game plan all along but if it was he managed to wool over my eyes. Science was right about Derek and his name for him fitted him perfectly.

I think how the public will react will depend on how he is shown in the next highlights shows over the next few nights. Hopefully those that were unsure about him will like me, have no problem in voting out the house if he is up this week.

I don't actually think Derek has much of a game plan, no more than Craig, Anthony and Makosi who spent all of last night positioning themselves for the last week.

Whatever game plan Derek has may be more apparent than the others because he appears not to have much knowledge about what the public like to see from housemates - the other HMs have probably watched previous series much more.

I think the simple explanation for why he bitches about the other housemates is he doesn't find much in common with most of them. I think the age difference is a huge factor on Big Brother, and combined with Derek's snobbishness it sets apart him from the other housemates, with a few exceptions.

Makosi has more of a game plan than any other hm in the history of the show. She was extremely good at it, too. Her only flaw was that she drew way too much attention to herself in the process, which is why her popularity plummeted.

It was and i think not even Orlaith can deny that.

Derek speaks his mind, not always in the right way but nevertheless he does and i respect him for that.

He MANIPULATES.
I'm totally shocked that BB hasn't spoke to him or given him a warning or anything.. He influences nominations nearly if not every week !

You listen to her, you really are stupid.

No I am not going on what a housemate said.. I've seen it with my own eyes

Right before the nominations in front of Vanessa Derek whispered to Anthony and Science.. when Science came out he said that Derek was whispering to him about housemates.. I've also seen it in the pool with Eugene.

I am just not a Derek fan to be honest and wouldnt care a jot if Orlaiths comments did anything to damage him as a HM. I think the man is devious and is a right old snake in the grass :colour:
