Recently I've heard a lot about Euthanasia in the Irish press(Lisbon Treaty). Seems like this will be one of the main outlines in the Presidential EU leadership...

Whats your thoughts....

Euthanasia, Right or Wrong?

So Long as the Person
is not pushed into it for money gains
and they are not under a Direction
that is seen as a Cult,
then it should be Legal.

I think it should be an option for people who are terminally ill and suffering badly

legal, but the right to commit suicide should be decided in court and then should be performed by a qualified doctor

If it is Voluntary Euthanasia and the person wants to be put to rest if they are in a critically ill condition and want to die painlessley then yes it is allowed IMO.

I'm not against it if it's what a person wants. There should be regulations and stuff and checks in place to make sure a person is not being pushed into it though. If someone wants to end their life because they're in pain but they can't due to the law what does that ake us telling them they have to live with it?

So what about the people that are Not in Pain,
and still demand to end there life?

Suicide is different to Euthanasia, If someone is severely depressed or in incurable mental anguish then I'm not against it since proper procedures would be a lot more peaceful for them then the person stringing themselves up or slashing their wrists. I'd only allow it in very rare cases though since it's basically suicide and I'm against that.

Some very Old People
want the right to Die
with a Doctor helping them.

That will be hard to bring in the UK.

Agree with it. It wouldn't be hard to regulate. At least 3 doctor opinions/authorisation and one present to stop any dodgy goings on, and the patient should declare it earlier into the illness if they want it or not (to get around the whole "what if they're too ill to speak"). That decision is then final and tough luck if they change their minds (unless they can say/sign themselves in front of non-family witnesses). Withdrawing medical support already makes it part legal, ie turning off a life support machine.

In my opinion it is wrong but I still have to respect other peoples decisions.

I'd say if they want to end their life, then those people are in pain, but of the emotional kind.

This is my life. I own it. What I choose to do with it, so long as I am not coerced by someone else, is my choice. If I choose to end it, that's up to me. It annoys me when religious robots and other people with massive, dictatorial egos assume they know what's best for someone else.
