About time

Jay Sean has topped the US Billboard chart with his single Down.
The British singer has been in the Top 10 for some weeks now with the track- which features rapper Lil Wayne.

But now Jay has knocked Black Eyed Peas I Gotta Feeling from the top spot after the group’s phenomenal six month spell at number one.

West London boy Jay Sean is signed to Lil Wayne’s Cash Money record label in the US and it has certainly served him well.

He called his chart topper 'insane' and said: “It's just incredible to have reached number one with my first release in America.”

Down has now sold 1.5 million downloads or physical copies. The track has yet to be released in the UK.

The US chart suck anyway. The UK chart is a more fairer representation of whats popular.

Not really, considering most of what tops the USA chart usually charts here too.

Black Eyed Peas was number one for 26 weeks over there. Here it was about 1/2. Come on 26 weeks for a song that goes on and on. Jees.

Meanwhile over on the US album chart; "Madonna has to settle for a number seven debut with her Celebration compilation."

Aww, the poor slag :bawling::wink:

Ah God Jay Sean.... No thanks.

The US chart really is sh*t, one of the worst I've seen. It's all boring rappers and hip hop. The UK one is vastly different really, the likes of La Roux or Muse would never have got in the top 10 in the US. Although we haven't got MUCH variety in our top ten it's certainly a lot more varied then America's.

It is when America does it, they could just pump out the same track every few weeks and nobody could tell the difference. it's a lazy and stagnant genre.

Bollocks.

If Maddona was top of the chart over there you would be knocking one out right now.

********.

She hasnt had a number 1 single over there since Music, I am realistic in that sence. Unlike the UK when her last number 1 was only last year..

Again, absolute shite, my point was that you would not be saying the US Chart sucked if your idol was doing well in the charts there.

Celebration went to number 72 in the US. Shows how poor the chart is.

How well it was premoted. If was released the time it was released over here it would of done better.

Celebration is a good song, One of my faves by Madonna.

Is that not the same song that was deemed too shite for Radio 1 and only played on Radio 2 by any chance?

Radio 1 are not Madonna fans at all. They are the radio equivelent of the Daily Mail.

But what I said was the US premotion was poor. The song was worst off there then any other country that the song charted.

You were implying that the US Chart 'sucked' because Celebration only got to 72 or wherever.

That is right but I also said that that was the lowest charting country with that song.

Even without this examples the US chart is still poor.

US chart is much better than the UK.

And Jay Sean isn't even that successful here so I'm glad he's #1 over there

Down hasn't been released over here yet, I expect it will do well in the chart once it is out.

I like the song, good for him with the #1! And you cant say its a poor representation, songs in the US sell millions, with some over 5m!! But here its about 40,000 to get a #1 now or even less. Poker Face got 4.1m digital downloads alone.

For Jay Sean to get a #2, stay there for a few weeks and then knock a massive long reigning #1 champion, he must have sold loads! Its already sold 1.5m copies in the US and made Jay Sean the first UK male Urban artist to go to the top in the US.
It takes alot to acchieve all that when you weren't known in the US!

The funny thing is, you guys sound like voyeurs always worriying about whats #1 in the US. LOL, and you keep saying how shiit it is, yet, still so worried about it. got news for you, if you are in the US, they dont care or mention ever, who is #1 in the UK. Maybe you shold do the same, especially if you think its so shiit. One thing is for sure, the artists certainly care.

Its a very good song. But you can be sure, now that its #1 in the US, the minute it is released in the UK, it will be #1, very predictable. A lot of songs (or artists) are ignored here, until people hear that they like it in the US. Its funny like that. Adele is a perfect example of that. Its like the little brother always wanting to copy their older brother. And then they will moan about how much the US suckks.

Yeah, the UK chart, who has people like crazy frogs at #1, and all the shiity xfactor releases over the years at #1. Yeah, thats a great indication of whats really good.
Everyone knows the music chart here, is one of the most laughable in the modern world.
