He was, I'm a huge fan of Danyl and it's obvious to anybody he was out of tune for that first bit unless they're completley tone deaf.

He said he couldn't hear the backing track and therefore couldn't pitch the first note, but if he's been singing it all week then surely he'd know it like the back of his hand.

I reckon he was playing on the fact he's 'lost confidence' a bit too much. It seemed really acted, and if it wasn't, then he's gonna have to learn to cope with negative press if he's gonna be famous.
