A finalist on the current season of Australian Idol was dropped out of the competition at the final 5.

Don't know if it's ever happened before. I know Rik was forced to withdraw from UK Pop Idol due to health reasons - but I don't think anyone ever quit.

That is a very brave thing to do, but it was completely the right thing to do... give people who want to be there the better chance.

Apparently now he's said he was too old and didn't feel comfortable competing against younger people.

A better chance.. he should have quit before he got to the live finals so someone else in his position could have got a chance to the live finals...... ridiculous!
