Many of the spammers are from China and Russia. The person earlier posting about movie downloads was from Russia, and if you see a post advertising shoes or iPod conversion software it is usually from China. :p
I have made it now so that new users from those countries have to jump through more hoops before they can post.

On the forum where I moderate, which is also VBulletin, anyone posting links or using key words, who has posted less than a certain number of times automatically goes into a moderation queue. Only moderators will see the post in the thread they have posted in and it is desginated by a certain symbol, as are the threads themselves.
If it is a spammer, I will click on the posters ID and from the submenu do find all posts by that user. I select them all in one click and from a little dropdown box only seen by moderators I select "Delete posts as spam"
It then takes me to another screen, where I make a note of the IP address. I then permenantly delete the posts and issue a permenant ban, as that screen offers the option to ban the poster. Then I report the IP so the admins can ban that too, after going to the sspecial mod section to see how many other users have been posting from that IP address.
Sometimes you get multiple socks from the same IP address.
I hope this helps
