Derek's secret illness
Big Brother resident Derek Laud is on medication to fight an illness that affects his nerves and muscles.
The 41-year-old has apparently been visiting the Diary Room at specific times each day for tablets that control a long-term nerve condition.
And insiders at the Chelsea and Westminster hospital state that just prior to Big Brother the outspoken housemate made several visits to the hospital for crucial electromyography (EMG) tests.
"Derek came to the hospital on 10th May to have an EMG which is a test used to gauge how well your muscles and nerves are working".
"The test can assess the reasons for uncontrolled muscle movements such as twitches, tremors or spasms. The test results can help to diagnose your health problem and the treatment plan that should be used."
Apparently, after Derek's last test he was referred to his local GP who is believed to have administered medication.
Political speechwriter Derek first showed on-air signs of being unwell two weeks ago after complaining in the Diary Room of constant migraines and bursting into tears about his inability to handle the stresses of the house. And during the group's Holiday Camp task he had to retire halfway through and lie down.
Derek has also been the first ever housemate to wear a wristwatch - a personal item that has always been banned under Big Brother rules so he remembers to take his medication on time.
