Thoughts?

It's definately got a good Pedigree, Disney doesn't finance any old films (especially at that kind of budget) and it's produced by the man who directed Pirates of the Carribean as well as the person who directed Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The cast seems quite good too, I think this stands a real chance of being the first really good Game Film.

They've taken a few liberties with the plot and such but I think Jake Gyllenhaal plays the prince quite well compared to what I thought he'd be like.

When i heard about them making this last year i feared the worst.
Now though after watching this trailer i have to say it looks pretty good.
This will do big business at the box office no doubt.
Big fan of the game so i will go to see this when its out.

It looks dreadful.

It could have indeed been the first ever video game movie that would have been more entertaining than standing in a bin full of dead animals, but Disney will inevitably bugger it up the bum like they do with most intellectual property they acquire these days and turn what should have been a cool, cunning and violent adult action movie into a ''Wowzers, let's get the radical treasure!'' style lark.

I dunno, apart from the story it seems quite close to the style of Sands of Time since that one was more 'fairytale-esque? (bad word I know but can't think of a better one). I'd dread them doing a version of Warrior Within though.

Let's hope that Gore Verbinski channeling the original POTC at least and not it's sequels.

The only thing that POTC will be remembered for is Johnny Depp; the film itself is pretty useless. I don't think there'll be that kinda star turn in this film, especially when they have people like Ben Kinsley in it, who doesn't really understand the meaning of the word fun.

I thought the original was quite good, a nice throwback to old adventure films. JD did play a huge role in it's success but they never really *****d him out until the sequels. The first one I think is one of the best live action films Dinsey has made in years.

I think as long as they stick to the style of SOT and can manage to capture that fairytale quality about it then it'll be a decent film.

Yeah the first Pirates was decent, and the third was watchable. What happened in between though is best left forgotten.

Have to agree, it's all about Depp though. And it is one of the few live action Disney movies I can watch.

It was a huge coup for them too, considering without Pixar or Remakes they are utterly bankrupt for ideas these days. We know you created Mickey Mouse and the rest of the gang, lads, but what can you do for us these days?
