Channel 4 has unveiled a real-life version of E4 comedy show Fonejacker as part of its Spring 2010 line-up.

The BAFTA comedy award-winner Fonejacker is back in early 2010 but this time he's off the phone and in our midst...

With the aid of clever disguises and elaborate prosthetics, Kayvan Novak becomes various characters who interact face to face with the general public. Some old favourites like Terry Tibbs, Mr Doovde and Internet Service Providings come to life in the flesh, plus there are new characters who unleash all manner of nonsense and mayhem on the world at large.

A Hat Trick Productions production

The show, tentatively titled 'Fonejacker 3D', is set to air in Spring.

Do you think it'll work, or is Kayvan best sticking to phone pranks?

UPDATE: Facejacker begins on C4 on April 16th. Pics of some of the characters are further down the page!

The only thing remotely funny about fonejacker is the accent of Terry Tibbs, but apart from that, fonejacker is ****

This has now been renamed 'Facejacker' and will air on Channel 4 in the near future.

The DVD is now available to pre-order on Amazon, HMV and Play.com, and - according to Amazon at least - it's out on May 24th.

A new description:

From the makers of Fonejacker comes a new show for Channel 4...Facejacker. Kayvan Novak once again plays the man of mystery, but this time he is up close and personal with his subjects rather than on the other end of a telephone line. He plays a succession of fictional characters thrust into real life situations butting up against unsuspecting members of the public. The show features a mix of some of the characters that we saw in Fonejacker (outspoken car salesman Terry Tibbs and Mr Doovde) and some that we only heard but who have now been brought to life:

Brian Badonde - the charlatan art critic who knows very little but who is more than happy to pass off your wisdom as his own whilst presenting his TV show.

Dufrais - the Jewish wheelchair-bound fantasist who is obsessed with the minutiae of life and who is desperate to attract a cast for the feature film that he is written; "Schindler's Other List"

Dr. Ali - Saddam Hussein's plastic surgeon of choice. But that was in the 80s. Now he plies his trade in the UK.

Donald Donaldson - A British-born former Hollywood director who finds himself back in England auditioning dogs and directing wedding videos but still wanting to give them the Hollywood treatment.

A character-based sketch show set in the real world performed by one man in a prosthetic mask and numerous members of the public.

This sounds interesting Arista. Can you elaborate?

And Facejacker sounds interesting, although I don't know how well it will work compared to Fonejacker. It might be better possibly, as people can just put the phone down and cut him of. Face to face might be more difficult.

If you've got £1.19 to spare, there's a Fonejacker app for iPod Touch & iPhone on the iTunes Store now.

It has free ring dings, videos and soundboards - which you can apparently use during calls on your iPhone :D

Ok but you need a 3D TV for this, which I doubt many people will have by its launch at 12.00 on Saturday on channel 217

I can't believe people are so narrow minded that they feel the need to create Facebook groups about programmes which they don't like. Believe it or not, some people happen to enjoy Fonejacker.

I don't like Glee, Gavin & Stacey or The X Factor - but I don't go on about it. People like different things, that's just life. And they're entitled to enjoy & embrace those things without having a small minority of people trying to ruin it for them.

I haven't been finding this as funny as Fonejacker, but I agree about Brian, he is better in Facejacker.

My favourite sketch so far is the fast food drive through in the first episode

This new show is rather hit and miss. That's probably because the make-up doesn't look real.

All the characters look like burns victims. That wasn't meant to be funny. It's just that rubber cannot look like skin.

This is my favourite show at the minute. *****ING HILARIOUS.

Brian Badonde and Terry Tibbs never fail to leave me in fits of laughter, same goes for Dufrais Constantinople, "How much are the maltesers please?

They're £3,

£3? That's an absolute disgrace, who would want to pay £3 for a bag of chocolate coated air"

hahaha amazing.
