that they hated animals; dogs, cats and so on - and went on to make some nasty comments "if I had my way dogs would be shot" could you then go on to like them or continue the pretence of a conversation?

why?

I'd be sympathetic and say I have a similar view towards children.

I'd say I liked animals and if he/she tried to shoot my dog and grab the gun and shove it up their arse

I like dogs but it's their opinion at the end of the day, it's not like they'll ever get the chance to act on it.

My dad says stuff like that about dogs all the time lol.

If it was someone I just met though, I have to admit it wouldn't make me very keen to get to know them any better! I'm a massive animal lover.

I would most probably tackle the subject with them and put my views across but ultimately if I was uncomfortable with their opinions and did not like them as a person I would not pretend to unless it was in an environment such as a place of employment where I would have to tolerate them. It depends how strong your views are and how you have to come into contact with this person.

I've always been of the mind that dogs can smell out the good and bad people of the world. Sounds silly but I think they're a great indicator as to the merits of any individual and I'm always a little wary of anyone who dislikes them or who my dog automatically takes a disliking to. Yes, I'm a bit nuts, sorry.

So yeah, in answer to your question, if I liked the person I'd have a good old conversation with them to find out the reasons for their hatred.... if it's a phobia that's fair enough because it can be worked on. If they just hate them no matter what, well, see ya later tough guy.

I don't know actually, I've never met someone who hates animals that much! I've met people who weren't keen on them but never met someone who wanted to shoot them all!!

My dog is the same, and I do believe he's a great judge of character!

Good point about the phobia side of it too, although even then saying that all dogs should be shot for example would still be more than a little harsh imo lol.

Sometimes when I feel like killing someone, I do a little trick to calm myself down. I'll go over to the persons house and ring the doorbell. When the person comes to the door, I'm gone, but you know what I've left on the porch? A jack-o-lantern with a knife stuck in the side of it's head with a note that says "You." After that I usually feel a lot better, and no harm done.

Really? I like to just call them a **** like Shaun does on online forums. It's much easier and there is no need to waste a knife and a perfectly good jack-o-lantern.

I'm afraid of most animals lol( Especially Horses, Most Dogs, Cats, Cows, Others etc. but I would quickly change the subject if someone said that about animals and think the person was quite strange.
