As in pain? Cancer?

The brain makes us who we are, the rest is just bone and flesh..

Both. The mind determines movement, recognises pain... but the body is needed in order for movement to occur. The body is a system not a hierarchy.

Chicken and egg scenario! I would say the mind rules the body - ie. depression is likely to lead to ill health - lowers immune stystem making person vulnerable to infections and general illness as well as affecting how the person looks after themselves.

They both influence each other in separate ways but overall work in synergy I think, so It's hard to give a direct answer.

Mind you I don't believe the mind is a singular thing. I have always felt my 'consciousness' or 'ego' if you like to be separate from my mind, kind of floating above it passing internal comments and whatnot, being the 'personality' that then delves into the 'mind' when it wants information and what have you.

Think about it, you always consider your mind in the third person. As if it's not directly you. 'My mind'.

Mind rules the body, hence those who are brain dead can't do anything

I think mind rules the body,
but th body can have minds of it own some time,
but the mind can take back control if strong enough.
:D

an open bottle of teachers has just overridden my mind and body

Apparently your mind has to rule your body when you walk over hot coals so I suppose it's like that.
