calling people racists, saying people are deluded, showing folks like Stephen Hawkins and saying that his disfugurity is an orgasm face seems to be ok on Tibb

I show the very top bit of a woman's nipple and my avatar is deleted because of the age of people on Tibb?

The more uh ... uptight ... of our moderators tend to moderate what they see when they are on the forums, which I am guessing is about five minuets every four weeks.

This place isn't really for young people at all. It's a hole. I mean that in the nicest possible way. It's a flaming, messy, perverted melting pot of hormones flying around.

And that's the way [uh-huh, uh-huh] I like it.

Besides, these kids have full internet access and can look up a whole lot worse in seconds. I doubt a bit of nipple action is going to destroy their morality. This place should just give up trying to maintain some sort of family image because it's never going to happen.

Without filtering software, young people will encounter things unsuitable for their age online. Fact.

And it's "retarded". Learn to spell.

I use the word "******", "gay" and "fag" way too much.

I use a lot of language which is considered "inappropriate" for young people, but I do firmly agree with what Stu said. They need to give up trying to make this place appropriate for kids. If kids are on here, then they need to just put up with it. If they (or their parents) don't want them exposed to bad language and half-nipples, then they should have filters on their computer.

I don't think that just goes for TiBB by the way, but for any internet forum. Forums center around user generated discussion, and are thus subject to that same free flow of user generated discussion. Plus, what are the final two words of the TiBB acronym? Big Brother.

Big Brother aint a kids show. If I had a thirteen year old son would I let him watch it? Sure. It's mostly just innocent, daft toilet humor, but on paper it's not a kids show. It's a little unrealistic to expect this forum to be a kid friendly forum. Especially when young kids make up a very, very small minority of the userbase. The biggest age group here seems to be late teens early adults like myself.

Cater to the majority, I say.

I concur.

My kids have filtered internet access. I'm the filter. The PC is in the living room and I keep an eye on what they're looking at.

If other kids don't have filters (parental or otherwise), then that's not my f.ucking problem frankly, so I'm not about to self-censor myself in case they read something I post.

Enid

I agree. Big Brother is not a kids show, therefore this should not be a kids forum. I say ban anyone under 16 and voila! I get my swearwords back. Since they took that away from me, I have felt very restricted. ****ing kids. :(

lily.

If they ban users under 16, they'll still join but they'll lie.

If I were in charge, I'd not ban younger users, but I'd have a disclaimer in the sign-in part saying that I couldn't guarantee the content would be suitable for all ages.

I also feel aggrieved at the language filters.

I have a hunch that this place is terrified of a lawsuit. Seriously, what are the odds? You can't control the internet. It's what makes it beautiful.

What ****ing centuary are you living in?

Young people see Tits and have had sex now under the age of 16 internet or no internet.

Whatever happened to freedom of speech though.

If I call someone a twat, does that mean I can be taken to court for libel/slander? I'm not saying that person is a twat, I'm merely stating that my opinion is that they are a twat.

I don't think anybody was denying that, Master P.

Is it custom to capitalize the word 'tits' in da hood?

Your spelling is atrocious.

Do you not actually grasp the point I was making?

Allow me to spell it out to you in simple terms.

I was saying that it's stupid to try to censor a forum like this by not allowing bad language, etc.

The reason I think it's stupid is because there are far worse things on the internet, so kids who have unlimited access to the internet without parental control or filters will not be any worse off if they see a bit of bad language on a Big Brother forum.

If someone wants their kids to be protected from adult content online they'll have filters in place to protect them. If they don't have filters in place, then the kids are going to see things anyway, so why bother making this place nice for kids.

Now do you understand?

Enid
29-11-2009, 03:21 PM
Their problem is, they give a **** and a lot of users are under 16. This place can be so immature that it drives a lot of adults away.

Sure I swear a lot and I say some obscene things sometimes, but I also know how to have a mature conversation. I can act my age when I want to. :P

MrGaryy

the way I see it, Big Brother is an adult show, it's aired after the watershed. If parents are willing to let their kids watch it and have unfiltered internet access then it is their problem if their kid sees something naughty on a BB forum and I'm not going to censor what I say just because some parent MIGHT be offended that their kid who they have let have full internet access sees something offensive.

You know what the ironic thing is? It's people thirteen and under who are most likely to curse, spell like a troglodyte, throw fits and contribute the least to the forum.

Are we really that worried about loosing they're custom?
