JOE McElderry’s dad has been ticked off for using work emails to support his son.


Probation officer Jim, 47, was reported by IT workers after signing off messages with “Vote Joe”.

He was given a dressing down for “abusing company resources”.

A spokesman at the Sunderland office where Jim works said:

“We’re fully supportive of Joe – he’s an amazing talent.

“But we do have to draw the line at Jim using official company communications to glean telephone votes.”
