View Full Version : Danyl Louis: "Danyl has a bad vibe"

Louis Walsh has admitted that he respects X Factor star Danyl Johnson as a performer but not as a person.

The Irish judge told The Independent that he does not expect Johnson to win the ITV1 competition because he is not "likeable" enough.

Walsh commented: "He did the best first audition we saw. Brilliant. No matter what you throw at him, he'll take it on. Vocally, he's prepared to take risks and he's not afraid to move around. But I don't think he's gonna win - he'll be second or third.

"I don't like him as a person, but as a performer he's great. He's got this bad vibe - he came in a bit sure of himself. Unlike everybody else, he's been around the block, singing in karaoke competitions around London and he's picked up a lot of habits from that.

"He has confidence but it's all front - I don't think deep inside he's that confident. Any other year he could have been a potential winner but this year, he's got a lot of competition and Joe [McElderry] and Olly [Murs] are more likeable."

Walsh also predicted that McElderry will triumph in the final, adding: "In the studio he'd record incredibly well. He's the one to beat. In fact, he's gonna walk it."

They're so critical of peoples personalities though it annoys me - they don't like Danyl cos he's confident yet they love Stacey cos she's an idiot:conf:

I'm not even a Danyl fan but so what if he's confident?? so is Olly, and the reason they're more confident than the other 2 is cos they're older!

Its not that he is confident... it is that he is TOO confident. Different things, gives off an arrogant vibe. It is very important that there is a likable personality, or no one will buy their music. Simple as that!

yeah but I hate the way people go on about this person is fake or over confident or has no personnality blah blah blah........I mean I doubt any of them are evil genuises out to fool the public, at the end of the day they're all just ordinary people who want to make it. And it must be hard to be relaxed and completely yourself when you're so in the spotlight and every move you make is scrutinized

I really think it's awful to knock someone for being confident the way they all do with Danyl. He doesn't come across as anywhere near as cocky as they make out and he's never been the same as in his initial audition when he really went for it on the stage and they ALL raved about him then! It's just ridiculous.

Jamie (although I liked him) was far more 'cocky' than Danyl was imo. Jedward were far more cocky and arrogant. And you need supreme confidence to be able to perform. I just don't get it.

Yeah, I thought that Jamie came across as being far more cocky than Danyl too, I really never saw the cockiness in him, I think it was more of a backlash because of all the intial praise and publicity he got over his first audition he did, it's that whole ridiculous thing that we do, build them and then knock them down again.

And again I'd just like to say that this is a completely unbiased observation as I'm not even a Danyl fan.

Yeah I think Danyl is second guessing himself all the time now, he always looks on edge and uncomfortable. On the VT's they show from the rehearsals and the house he seems like a nice guy, when he's more relaxed. I think the pressure and the hypocritical criticism has just really got to him, understandably! I'd hate to be talented like that and have all the **** he's had. The British do have a bad habit of building people up and then turning on them, I agree with you there Niamh! It's crazy really!

I sort of agree with Louis, I hated him when he was cocky, but then he packed it up and I actually like him now, but now and then you get a feeling hes just acting.

Thing with Danyl is that he came across as very arrogant the first three shows; then in week four (after he'd been in the bottom two) he was all humble but it just came across as an act he'd put on, much like how people thought Rachel was acting in week 3. I still have that impression of him. He comes across as very self assured and fake, I don't think he's likable at all. I've been wanting him out for weeks and he's still there, it annoys me when Simon hypes him up to be amazing when he honestly isn't.

do you think that maybe he was humble because he was deflated after being in the Bottom 2? If I thought I was great but then got either the lowest or second lowest votes I would be acting differently as well the next week but thats a genuine reaction to a knock down.

look at the real interview that Louis gave, right at the bottom of the page, he gives views on all of the contestants but DS decided to highlight only his views on Danyl

PR stunt designed by Simon and himself to gain the sympathy vote that's all. If he was so distraught how come he came out on Sunday nights group performance bouncing around the place like an ever ready bunny?
It was cringey stuff watching him that Saturday.

Yes, but it was completely hammed up (in that he was all depressed when they were commenting - sympathy vote much?), childish (see previous) and exaggerated for weeks afterwards - hence why I think it was put on, and why I still dislike him. I can understand being nervous and upset about it, but a week later - get over it and don't let it come across in your performance, that's very unprofessional and it was a blatant attempt (at least it was in my opinion) to scrounge for votes. I'm amazed he's made it to the top 4.

Although I agree totally, I think it's in poor taste for Louis to express it so publicly when he's still in the competition.

Well he's impartial now and he even said last week in a VT that he's going to say it how it is.

yeah but why go talking to papers, bad mouthing his personality. It is a talent competition after all.

Danyl is really talented but he over sings all the time meaning he goes completely out of tune

MarkWaldorf

he wasn't talking to the papers on a slanging match, it was actually a featured interview and he said things about all of the finalists. DS obviously chose to mention the Danyl and Joe parts though.
