Anyone see this new BBC1 comedy show, BIG TOP, starring Amanda Holden?
Yes, Amanda Holden, her off Britain's Got Talent.
And if that wasn't weird, just look who's in it with her. Sophie Thompson (done Shakespeare), Tony Robinson (Blackadder and Time Team), John Thompson (recently Coronation Street) and Ruth Madoc (Hi De Hi).
This show intrigued me because of its cast. The best comedies are people who you wouldn't think of being bunched together.
I would never have picked the above mentioned, but curiously they seem to gel in a weird, old fashioned way.
As regards the jokes, the jury is still out, but I laughed a couple of times, namely when Sophie Thompson was reminding Amanda of the people Amanda had dated.
'The one with the beard was okay.'
"That was the bearded lady you introduced me to!"
It's a circus comedy after all. :D
