View Full Version : Should non-Christians celebrate Christmas?
_Seth

Because it is a Cristian holiday where we worship God, so why should non-believers share?
bronaaaa

It's kind of expanded I guess. To be honest, even for Christans, christmas is no longer really centered around the birth of Jesus
Because Christmas has gone well beyond that and grown into something much bigger. It's a time to be happy, and a great excuse to get pissed. If you are so into the God part of it I'm sure you will see no need for putting up decorations, watching Xmas movies, or giving presents.
Unless of course 'Holidays are coming, always Coca Cola' is mentioned somewhere in Deuteronomy.

It seems Christmas is now about Presents and being greedy little piglets.
Meh, I don't need an imaginary friend in the sky to tell me what seasons I can and can't celebrate. Christmas rocks. End of. If you have a problem with people being happy, well, that's not very Christian.
As non believers we have just as much right to celebrate as Christians because considering we don't believe in it, it has no religious signifigance and thus we can celebrate it if we damn well please, IMO.
It's like when people ask me why I wear a cross if I am not Christian. Not being a Christian, the cross is just a design to me, so I have no problem wearing it.

Even though Jesus did? Even though Jesus was a Jew? Even though Jesus was fulfilling a biblical prophecy, which he said so himself? Even though Jesus constantly quoted the Bible, believed in the Bible, and preached the Bible's message?
Jesus christ, pardon the pun, but I seriously can't believe what I am hearing.

So you believe in Jesus but you do not believe in what Jesus believed? Or who Jesus claimed to be? Or ... well ... anything?
Oh, okay. Just checking.
There is a reason why the Bible contradicts itself. It was written by hundreds of men over hundreds of generations. The creation of mortal men. And ... well ... it's horseshit.

It dosen't really matter for ****. If you don't believe in the Bible, you don't believe in Jesus. Simple as. His BIRTH was detailed in the Bible. The birth that fulfilled a BIBLICAL PROPHECY. The same reason you claim to celebrate Christmas!
Your religion is basically one you synthesized yourself in order to have it both ways and please yourself. Good luck with the salvation bid.

It is a good question.
Being buddhist If you are saying "should celebrate?", I feel very uncomfortable.
I have to think,,,,.
Actually I do exchange Xmas cards, presents and having Xmas dinner.
My case I have no alternative as my husband is Christian.
But my Buddhist friends who live alone, they do the same in Xmas season and enjoy together with mixed religious people as holiday.
It is nothing wrong with beliving bibles. I wish my husband is more religious. I go to church if it is my Christinan friends' wedding or funeral.
If we respect other religious, the world will be more peaceful.
This is a Christian country and I (and all my friends) highly against some local council banning Xmas for non Chiristian.
