Sir Paul McCartney and George Michael have reportedly agreed to bring this year's X Factor to a climatic end.

Simon Cowell convinced the legends to sing live duets with finalists in next week's finale, and also hopes to land a third star for a showstopping spectacle.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is rumoured to be the man that Cowell hopes will complete the set, reports the Sunday Mirror.

A source said: "After last year's duets with Beyoncé, Boyzone and Westlife he knew he had to pull out all the stops to make this year's even better."

Joe McElderry was last night's favourite to win the show with odds of 8/11.

The X Factor live results show is on tonight at 7.30pm on ITV1.

All good pairings I think. If its Chris and not Leona then it will be

George & Joe (doing whatever Joe did on Wham week)

I can imagine Chris and Stacey, if she makes the final. George and Joe definitely for "Don't Let The Sun...", and SirP and Olly (if he is there) for "Twist & Shout"?.
