My mum and dad sort of decide what on different things. But think mum is the ultimate decider, although dad reckons its him, lmao.

In my family, it's pretty simple: Dad has the money, Mum spends it.
It's a sum up to say that my Dad controls the Money, but my Mum decides what we should buy to eat....
If that makes any sense ?

My dad is retired, my step mum still works so if you look at it in that way, she is the bread winner, although my dad has his army pension and a private one that brings in a good amount each month too.

They make all decisions together though.

Yes. And if she steps out of line i'm like "Bitch, get in that kitchen and make me some pie"

Well, one day I heard my mum saying to my dad 'If you cross me, I'll cut you' so I guess they work in team lol

I see your point, both of them are foreigners from completely different cultures and have both ways to manage a household but they do it very well.

For those not in the know, LeatherTrumpet is alluding to Ephesians 5:22-33 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians%205:22-33&version=NIV)

Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

LeatherTrumpet, maybe you should ask for this book (http://www.amazon.co.uk/How-Win-Friends-Influence-People/dp/0091906814/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1260345221&sr=8-1) for Christmas

I guess that's one of those special parts of the Bible you can ignore. They crop up a lot, don't they?

they're a team then!!

That's how I see it. How can you be partners if this is not the way?

Neither should have the final say. Decisions should be decided by both using common sense and give and take.

I was not really alluding to any Scripture, but I will remind you and Stu that God made man AND woman in his own image (Genesis) - the Bible is clear that men and women are equal and the New Testament gives woman authority unknown in the first century and not equalled till thousands of years later.

And I have read Dale Carnegie's book many times (and others by him) and have a first edition of that book now worth a few Bob. So stick that in your pipe, smoke it, an announce a new Pope.
