What I find most interesting though is the word they used to coin this type of behaviour, drawing emphasis to the lad culture that it bears direct relation to, and actually in a strange way it heightens the inequality between the sexes. Well, in my eyes anyway. What's just laddish behaviour for the fellas is intolerable and socially unnacceptable for the ladies to engage in.
I mean, if we're going to have a pop at women for feeling justified in acting like men on occassion, why don't we talk about mens behaviour too. What disgusting things can we lay blame to as a sex in the past 10 or 20 centuries when women had been oppressed, denied any legal rights or say in any matters? Eh, war, rape, domestic abuse..... it's neverending really.

Yes, and who is she vulnerable to? Men, that's it. Double standards again Joseph. It's not her fault that men are aggressive, sexual deviants, you know? She shouldn't drink because it's not safe for her?! Sorry, I hate that waffle and it makes me sad to be a man when a girl isn't safe on the streets, drinking or not drinking.

Saying men don't get raped is a bit of a sweeping statement Joe. And I think anyone who is drunk to that extent is extremely vulnerable, male or female. Round here you actually hear of more guys being attacked on their way home drunk than you do women.
Bottom line noone would should attempt to get home under their own steam when they are that drunk. Not saying that I never have lol when I was younger I didn't even think of the danger in it, and I think that's a big part of the problem with young people today. When you're drunk you lose your common sense totally.

But that shouldn't stop a girl from drinking. Don't you see how mental a statement that is to make? It's like saying that a girl asked for it and is to blame because she was drunk and walking around. Most violent crimes and aggressive acts are committed by men... that's where the problem lies, not with women.

Do you think we'd suddenly decide to switch sides at the last minute or something Arista????
Sorry, I had to go out shopping but I wasn't done here.
Women have never been more sensible or mature than men, it just SEEMED that way because we were oppressed for so long -- so saying to a woman that she isn't very "lady like" is quite a redundant thing to say nowadays. You know what, I don't even know what it really means? How is a lady "supposed" to act? Maybe some of you men could enlighten me?
And it's a pretty poor argument to say that women should not "act like drunken slags" because there's a chance they could be raped. Maybe we should all stay at home because we could get run over. Or hell, why don't we all just kill ourselves now because we're going to die anyway? Actually, ever thought that perhaps men should just not rape in the first place?

Can't really see how the physical thing is an issue either. We have women police officers, detectives, fire fighters etc. - and aren't American women allowed to fight on the front line?
Personally, I wouldn't want to do it - probably too much of a coward - but if women want to risk their lives for their country - that is their right! Their life, their decision, their right! They are not children that need protecting!
