Channel 4's Cast Offs ended on a series low last night, early viewing figures show.
The final instalment of the disabled mockumentary managed just 160k (2%) in the 11pm hour. Over its six-episode run, the series has pulled in an average of 288k (3.5%).
Earlier on Channel 4, the second part of Kirstie's Homemade Christmas had 2.88m (13.1%), improving slightly on last night's opening episode. The Family logged 1.85m (8.4%) at 9pm, then 900k (5.6%) tuned in for True Blood at 10pm.
Although BB ratings have been low in recent years they've never been this low, axing BB will just mean ridiculously low ratings like this, the BB ratings cant go any lower can they the last series was just proper fans they can only go up. So Axing it is so retarded when it was axed over ratings

it doesn't add up.
It's been worse. On this year's Children In Need night, C4's highest primetime rating was about 400,000 viewers.
It goes to show that it's not just BB's ratings that are falling.

Channel 4 will rue axing Big Brother. Their viewer share is diminishing and I do not think they will come up with anything as good as BB to fill the void the show will leave.

It was on at 11 O clock at night, It wasn't heavilly publicised, Channel 4's primetime ratings are always around 1-2 million and 11 o clock is not primetime.
The reason why they're not renewing it is because the figures are gonna continue to drop and because it dominates so much of the C4 schedule they'll lose out more. The best they're hoping for now is that there'll be more interest in the last series so they can limit the financial damage.

channel 4 have no chance of replacing big brother successfully
based on achieving similar ratings to BB10,maybe the ratings for BB11 will be dire,then they might have a slim chance.

we've got no clue what'll be replacing it so it's early to judge, BB's a tired format and people are bored of it. All it takes are a few new shiny shoes with good marketing campaigns and C4 will be sorted. BB's a lot easier to replace then people think.

I saw quite a lot of ads on TV & there was quitea bit in the papers about it
But you need to factor in the expense of each show and the return it gets. Its not all about ratings

There were reports whilst BB10 was on saying how it was making substantial losses etc and they owe companies air time for over timing with advertising space as they expected about 3m viewers

it is in a way the higher the ratings the higher C4 charge for adverisment fees, during X factor it costs a company £6000 per secong to advertise

But don't forget about show costs, those have to be covered by advertisement fees so it doesn't automatically mean greater profit. So C4 could have a show that gets 2m viewers, costs £100,000 per hour but gets £500,000 in advertising fees, thats a profit of £400,000, compared to a show that gets 3m viewers, costs £400,000 per hour and gets £600,000 in advertising fees, but thats only £200,000 profit. They'd go for the show with 2m viewers.

usually throughout the year it costs about 60mill to cover everything in the show from rebuilding house to food and cameras etc

i read that story ,it did say that channel 4 had to offer some free airtime to advertisers as ratings weren't good enough
dunno how true that was though

C4 want to axe Big Brother because they think their starting 'fresh'
They want a new name for themselves (not that many care) and want to show newer programmes.
BB isnt the only C4 Show being axed, alot of other popular shows are too.
Channel 4 will look back a year after BB11 Ends and will realise that no one gives a **** about them anyway.
Their shows are crap.
The only good things on their when BB isnt on are their C4 Idents.
So when they see how Popular and Great Big Brother 12 is doing on another brodcaster, they`ll be crying for it back.

People ARENT bored of it, its only the pricks that hate it that complain about it so much to make it look as if its hated.
The ratings for BB10 were bad, thats C4s fault for not advertising it at all and putting **** all effort into letting people know it even started!
Look at BB9 that got high ratings, okay not BB3 High..but still about 4 Million is good viewing figures.
So why did they just decide to make BB10 turn **** and put no effort into that.
Its not that people were bored of it its just that C4 Decided they wanted a little break this summer and decided to through people in a house, switch off live feed, turn on cameras and then sit back and do ****.

People will instantly know its trying to be Big Brother, they will watch this new show for one reason..
To compare every detail to what Big Brother was and then they`ll switch off..No one likes a copy cat and thats what it will be trying to replace BB as a Reality Show.
When Big Brother 12 is on another channel in a few years, a Channel that will actually PUT EFFORT into the show..
Then viewers will start watching again and the ratings will improve.

As much effort went into BB10 as BB9 and CBB6. So thats no excuse.
It doesn't have to be replaced with reality TV btw. And I don't think it will be a like for like replacement.
Doesnt matter about viewers all the time, probably because its boring now for everyone. It needs a break.

Big Brother US has also been airing since 2000 about to go on it's 12th season and last seasons ratings were the highest ever.
The Amazing Race is on it's 15th season.
America's Next Top Model is on it's 14th season.
Just to name a few!
