Better than the dancing shite on BBC thats for sure, what would ITV really put in place of X-Factor that could draw in the same audiences?

I had the misfortune of catching the first 10 minutes of it on Saturday, what an utter joke of a program it really is.

Who knows, but it's pretty much the same every year, some shiny winner who usually fails. Can't believe the British public eat this stuff up.

alc09 you're talking complete sense. It's arguably one of the worst TV shows I've ever seen.

He should just retire.

Of course it is, but people watch it, and there is no reason why it would go any where in the near future.
I like the show of course, but have never voted for anyone on it.

I'm not by any means defending strictly or anything. But it just seems all TV can do is create reality shows these days.

Bad times ahead for TV then, and the music industry.

Tell me about it. I think the way he acts with Tess, who is not only married, but so many years younger than him, is revolting. :bored:

They're popular, thats why.
Of course BB is excused from what I just said, but back in the day it pulled in a decent audience.

Tess Daly is the one positive regarding the show....not bad looking at all.

My parents both like it too. It's just piss poor all round. Oh, and it copies X Factor because it's more popular. Pathetic.
After the next series of Britain's Got Talent, I think X Factor will feel over exposed by the next time it comes around the ratings will be a fair bit down.
Think about what happened to Big Brother once it reached saturation point in 2006.
For the short term, ITV can go and burn both shows out as much as they like and get short term money. But if they want the formats to last in the long term then I think they should start to alternate each show like what they did with Popstars and Pop Idol so this time next year X Factor wouldn't be on but Britain's Got Talent will have just finished.

Well I don't mind BB cos of the format and that. Yes you may get wannabes but not aload of dribble. The sob stories must annoy you yeah? It's funny at first, but then just gets too up itself.

They obviously realised that was pulling in younger viewers too, and so sacked that wrinkly old bag just to replace her with Alesha Dixon.

It seems that you can't resist the attempt to have a dig, as shown last night when you jumped in with your usual bollocks only to be laughed at.

I watched the one where he wasn't on it, it was actually an alright show when it was Tess and Claudia
Otherwise it depends whose on whether I follow it or not but never really get into it, I just can't. it bores me.

Wrinkly old bag, couldn't describe her much better myself. Spot on with that one.
The outrage her sacking caused was beyond belief. People complaining FFS.
Who would you rather see on TV, an old bore or someone young and good looking, which brings something refreshing to the show, much like Cheryl Cole joining X-factor?

Dancing on Ice have done the same, that show is tolerable because you can see celebrities go flying on ice :joker: plus Holly's dresses ;)
Ruthie has gone (thank god) and has been replaced with Emma Bunton, and although there isn't that big an age gap Emma is a lot more fresh faced and it will work better imo
I was a bit unsure about the whole Arlene thing at first but then I realised, if we have the right to judge on X Factor without not being able to sing or having successful acts, but in all honesty a) who actually cares and b) who are we to tell anyone they aren't qualified to judge?

The latter, for sure.
She was obviously a creature comfort for the older generation, as is Bruce. Awful.
