Good evening everyone, this is my first post here but some of you already know me from other forums.
Those of you who have been complaining that this years BB has been nothing but a moneyspinning exercise by Channel 4 might be interested in this article written by a Channel 4 bigwig in today's Observer where he basically admits as much:

Welcome to the site queenie :xyxwave:
Hope you post lots :spin2::spin2::spin2:
Hi Queenie :cat:
A big welcome from me as well. :spin2:
I thought that was an interesting article, and in a way it was quite refreshing that someone at C4 were willing to admit the fact that they are relying on the revenue generated by BB to bail them out of their other financial difficulties.

I think there are certain parts of it that are a disgrace:
Firstly, you send a text, then you get text messages (either quiz questions or news bulletins) to your mobile. Every one costs 25p a go.
They are charging for live streaming.
They are not giving part of your voting money to charity this time.
The division has turned the show into one of the "freak" variety, promoting endless bitching and backstabbing. Cheap rubbish served up to rob the masses.
Why do I watch it? Well Kate and Jonny are still there, at least there are two among them who will not have their humanity taken away. Yet...

And as Desmond Morris, the anthropologist, pointed out in a recent article, they are quite literally making monkeys out of the housemates. They are going to come out of the house to find they have been universally reviled as boring, horrible and stupid. But as Morris says, this year they've been given next to nothing to do, they're like bored animals pacing round cages at the zoo, we'd most of us be pretty vile that under those circumstances.

Here's an article from the Guardian which suggests that Channel 4 are not getting the type of viewers they need to make the show more profitable.
