Interesting...

So the chances of the Isle of Wight having snow are significantly higher than normal at this stage in the week, right?

Very interesting week ahead for us, me amongst any other forecasters are going to really struggle to forecast this week, midweek onwards could produce some snow just about anywhere anytime.

Saying that, today we only expected light snow flurries across Kent but an inch has fallen in places!

Very cold temperatures expected too.

Do preliminary forecasts indicate severe snow similar, or even worse to the week we had in February 2009? How long is all this snow/cold weather forecast to continue?

Stephanie

i want it to be ****ing hot ffs.

If it's going to be cold as long as it snows I don't care, to be honest. Nothing worse than heavy rain/strong winds. At least snow is different, and exciting.

Due to model variation there is too much uncertantity in the outlook to say as to how much snow will fall and where, although it is look as if significant snowfall could occur Wednesday into Thursday . By the looks of the forecast model we are expecting the cold to last at least another 2 weeks

Thanks for the heads up, Rob.

And judging by the video posted, the Isle of Wight has snow forecast the heaviest on Friday? I'm hoping this comes true, and it doesn't end up falling as rain. That's all that has happened in the past few weeks.

I was going to hold off mentioning this because there is alot of uncertantity but this confidence is growing.

I don't want to cause alarm by this so please take this with a pinch of salt. A very severe weather event looks to occur toward the end of next week. An area of low pressure will stall in the North Sea, tied together witth very cold air this could produce some heavy snow across the South and East on Thursday, this looks to intensify on Friday and produce some extremley heavy snow. Its too early to say as to how much will fall but early indication show that between 20-35cm could accumilate across lower ground and possibly up to 50cm across some higher ground.

I will keep this thread updated as the situation unfolds.

Any updates on the situation, Rob?

I've been checking the weather on various sources all day and it seems it's becoming increasingly unlikely. But more likely that we'll be getting some snow tomorrow and Wednesday.

I've missed it all, everywhere, basically. :bawling:

I went up north, it wasn't snowing, and then started snowing on the day we were coming home. FML.

Hi,

The "snow storm" of Friday now looks unlikley, but some very heavy snow is likely over tonight Wed and Thu across many areas of the south

What's this snow over the weekend going to be like for the Isle of Wight, do you know? Thanks for the updates too, by the way. Much appreciated.
