http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/a193664/67-million-watch-celeb-bb-launch-show.html
5.9m watched on C4 alone (it is unknown how many watched on +1, this already makes the series 500,000 viewers more than CBB6 Launch and much higher than BB10 Launch.
Peak of a huge 6.7m!!
+1 will bring the audience to around 6.3m.
EDIT-
With +1 added the rating is 6.2m!!!

That is great, and well deserved, the launch was excellent!
It was also 10.14pm when it cut to the streaming and the end titles! I don't think ANYONE expected those figures, and this year can definitely match last year now and maybe go to another broadcaster. i never thought I'd be writing that today but its really a brilliant figure. Even after the BB10 meltdown Big Brother STILL has pulling power!
In other news Got To Dance got 0.9m and 1.2m for the two shows, she must be very happy this morning.

Yepp, and +1 isnt even added!!
It is the most watched BB Launch (celeb and normal) since BB8. If the +1 is added and it goes over 6.2m then it will be the highest since CBB5 Launch!! as BB8 got an average of 6.2m. Looking likely that this will beat it when it gets to +1.

Nope since CBB5 (aka the Jade/Shilpa year) back in 2007 (3 years ago, aka, 5 series ago).

Woops, I was thinking of that but just put BB5  If it was BB5 channel 4 would be bricking it canceling the show mind you :joker:

I knew it! I was going to post earlier that I had a good feeling about the launch considering it was all over Twitter/Facebook and had the added benefit of being aired on a Sunday evening when most people will be watching the TV.
The question now is how much will it be able to sustain throughout the series?

6.3m including +1!

I reckon it'll manage to keep around 2.5 million viewers.

If the show remains as gripping as the launch, it will do well. We've got a bunch of good housemates, now its up to BB, it needs to set interesting tasks and do twists to keep the show appealing and the viewing figures up.

I'll bet Vinnie Jones going in had a a big bearing on that!!
Awesome figures! I need to catch up and watch it now! I know all the contestants. Excited!

Well, every series we're getting excited at the launch ratings and the drop is massive afterwards. Don't get too excited people.

I think with Vinnie Jones in there people might watch Remy. I was really surprised he went in, he's a pretty big name to have

OMG! This is awesome!
I was really worried that the figures would be like 2 million or something last night considering only 3 million or something watched the bb10 finale!
The launch show was so polished and well thought out that im glad it got the appreciation it deserves! Now all we need is the press to get behind it like in previous years!
Anyway wicked result!!
You know what the most impressive thing about this is? Nobody really knows how the format has changed. They basically just covered everything in fire and let people know they were putting effort in.
And BAM!

I'm very surprised. Let's just hope they can keep hold of viewers for the rest of the series. What are we hoping for? 3-4m?
daniel-lewis-1985
04-01-2010, 11:47 AM
yeah im hoping it averages at least 3 million through out the series
Well with a launch like that I see no reason why the series can't hold on to 4 million of those viewers on a regular basis, especially considering it's still growing through Twitter etc as we speak, a rating which would still be far and above what any of us expected it to do.

Wow, the peak must have been over 7m including C4+1. That's amazing! :D
Salv, how do u know it got 6.3m? DS says 5.9m?

If the average is lower than CBB6 (3m overnights, 3.3m officials) then we can conclude that CBB7 is a flop. It launched with a much bigger audience and has had more media coverage today, with the same amount of streaming but with more internet updates. And this is the first time it has launched on a Sunday so its not as though people will be out tonight and tomorrow etc, so it could build throughout the week. But it has dodgy slots (10-11.10) which could drag overnight figures down a bit.

Inside BB, they have taken +1 into account. On +1 400,000 people watched, so that brings it to 6.3m. DS is C4 only.
I have no idea when Channl 4 overnights section will be updated though, its been since December 22nd!!

I think they could drag it down quite a lot sadly :(
10pm shows on C4 never do well.

Just checked, it says 6.2m which is still great though.
I think tonight will go down to around 3.5m. 10pm is quite late!

I don't believe these ratings. How can CBB all of a sudden get 6.2m when the last series finished with just 3m?
Doesn't seem right! There's something wrong with the ratings.

Well if ratings continue to be better than expected then maybe they should consider changing the slot to 9PM for next week.

tbh its already been axed so i'll only class it as a flop if it is boring, so if it has low ratings bts entertaining i dont think id mind as much as i did last year

Feeling very excited about BB this year and this is very good news.
A lot of forum members did predict they would make a real effort on these last seasons.
I didn't expect 'too much' from CBB other than maybe a dignified and slightly gracious run,
but,
actually they really did a good job here and really do seem to be going out with a bang and job well done.
Yeah.. its good so far and Im not even a huge CBB fan and I am surprisingly pulled in here.
