Is she?

Don't give her sympathy though, she wouldn't want that! :)

Her lip reading is insane. Took me a while to notice that she never talks to anyone unless she is looking right at them.

She has partial hearing in one ear

When she does acting she has to memorise the entire script (not just her own lines) so she can lip read and know when to speak

I guess thats why she talks slightly slower than most

It would be really great if the obvious sympathy you have all expressed about this celebrity was shown to all older folk in our society.
A very large proportion of over 60s have experienced some hearing loss, sometimes without knowing it. The worst effect is felt when others mumble their words.

According to wikipedia she has 75% of hearing in her left ear, which is about 40% of what we hear. But she was born that way so knows no different. She can hear a bit but not a lot.

Me too! Just proves what a canny, intelligent woman she is to have achieved such success with such a disability!

Partially, not fully, because then how would she speak to BB in the DR with no lips to read?
