it's hard to explain but you've probably experienced it...

I was having a bad dream earlier. I think I was with friends and we were under attack in a war or something... and I realised I was awake, but still thought the dream was real.

And I was frozen...I actually couldn't move. And when you get in that situation you try to shout for help and you actually can't make a noise.

I hate it :( eventually it subsided and I fell back asleep.

Oh yeah. I used to get that when I was younger.

And I would try to speak and couldn't.

Don't seem to get it now.

Yeah I get horrible dreams like that quite a lot, I either wake up literally unable to move or if I have a dream where someone is hurting me physically, I wake up feeling actual pain :(

Really fcked up stuff!

It's called sleep paralysis. It is the body's way of stopping you acting out your dreams. But sometimes you can be awake and not able to move.

the worst thing is, I get this all the time, when you dream you're falling or slipping and you sort of jump in your bed as if to save yourself from the fall or something idk but it freaks me out.

Aren't you clever.. ;)

I hate those dreams where someone is chasing you and your legs won't work... you try to run, but they either cramp up, or they turn to jelly and you can't seem to put any power behind them to make yourself move or run..

I ahte it when you're almost asleep and then you jup and you're wide awake again. It's happened to me numerous times and I can like see the dream faintly in like black and white and then i fall or someting and i jump and am wide awake.

Have you ever been awoken by visual noise? Like you get a flashing image and a noise.. but there is no noise..

One of my friends had that on a plane and she was dreaming she was being chased and fell down her stairs, so she jumped to wake herself up and then she was sick right after.
What confuses me is that she woke up because she got a fright, but she was sick aswell? Doesn't your body naturally make you wake up if your sick anyway so you don't drown in your sickness? It confusses me cause I think it could be both.

My friend doesn't know if this was a dream or not but when he was younger, and he lived in an army camp, he was sleeping and the man who was a soldier can and started screaming at him. He thinks it was a dream but one of those really real ones where you know everything around you - if that makes sense? lol

my sister has an extreme phobia of spiders like she's petrified. And every month or so she gets these things called 'nightterrors' where basically she's 99% awake but she's convinced there's spiders everywhere and she gets up and starts screaming and grabs stuff and starts hitting the ground and the floor to kill them. I have to go into her and just sort of coax her out of it LOL just talk to her as if I'm helping her kill them until she fully comes around. Her roommate does it for her too LOL.

I've always thought dreams are thoughts gathered in our head in the past few days, but sometimes dreams are completely different to what we have thought about

That sounds horrible. I hate hearing people screaming - and really meaning it aswell. It sounds wierd but it makes me feel kinda sick. Does she remember what happens when she wakes up or no?

You know when you freeze but you're awake and can't do anything ... it only lasts for about 2-5 seconds but it feels like minutes or hours

Its when your brain wakes up before your body does
