Ahh! I used to also use my fingers to work out the 9 times table.

Hold your hands out with all your fingers open:
9 x 1 - put first finger from left down, and your left with 9 on the right side = 9
9 x 2 - put second finger from the left down and your left with 1 on the left side [10s] and 8 on the right = 18
9 x 3 - put third finger from left down and your left with 2 on the left side [20s] and 7 on the right = 27

Works up to 9 x 10 = 90 :D
