Producer Mike De Luca has revealed that the planned Metal Gear Solid movie will not be moving forward.

Speaking to Collider, De Luca hinted that conflict between the movie's backers and video game company Konami has halted the production.

"I don't think it's going to move forward because I got the sense that there may not be enough of a co-ordinated will at this point on the side of certain parties to see a movie get made," De Luca said of the Metal Gear feature.

He continued: "The video game companies are very protective of their property and there are certain things a studio requires freedom-wise to market and distribute a movie effectively in a global marketplace and sometimes getting those two things to match up is really hard."

The game's protagonist is a special forces operative called Solid Snake who is often sent on missions to disarm the Metal Gear bipedal nuclear weapon.

Thank god for that. One less horrible video game movie in the world.

MGS had a chance of being good in the right hands (as the MGS games are close to being a film already) but in the wrong hands, it would have been shite

It's a blessing in disguise. I don't want a film unless Hideo Kojima and David Hayter are involved somehow.
