LADY Sovereign is hiding a secret heartache - her mum has less than a year to live.
Nicola Harman, 43, has a terminal brain tumour, is now bedridden and has trouble speaking, Sov's sister Chloe revealed last night.
And Chloe 25, told how it was their mother's brave battle that inspired Sov - real name Louise - to go on the show.
Chloe said: "Louise has gone into Big Brother to make Mum proud of her because she only has months to live.
"Mum's stuck in her bed now and finds it difficult to talk sometimes."
But seeing Sov on TV at her home in Kilburn, North London, brightens her day, Chloe revealed.
She said: "Mum has the telly on every night to watch Louise.
"Her face lights up when she sees her and you know she's thinking 'that's my girl'."It's a great comfort to her.
"It sounds silly but it really helps her get to know Louise better, because there she's just being herself and not having to react to Mum's illness."Mum looks forward to it - it's the one thing that brightens up her day.
"It's like it gives her a window on Louise's world, which hasn't been easy over the years as she's often been abroad."
Sov, 24, has a small fanbase in Britain but made her name as a rapper in the US, the Far East and Australia.
She would spend months away doing gigs supporting stars like Gwen Stefani and rap group D-12.
But, as we've revealed, the pressure of being away from her family and friends caused Sov to have an on-stage meltdown.
Chloe said: "Louise doesn't share her problems.
I took some comfort in the fact that she's always been a very strong person."
So much so that the younger Sov, would stick up for her sister.
Chloe said: "I was older, but it was her who would be looking after me. She would get into fights with people.Who let the dogs out ... the future rap star wrestles with two pets"She wasn't a bully or anything - it wasthe opposite."She would take on battles for people who were being picked on. She was always sticking up for something."Boys were afraid of her. She was tiny but she could pack a punch."It was her unruly behaviour that helped Sov break into music.
After repeatedly playing truant, she and Chloe were both packed off to a strict school for kids who struggled in normal classes.
Chloe recalled: "It was the making of Louise - because that's where she got into acting and performing.
"She was given a role in a film, about truancy of all things, and made a song for them.
"After that she just went headlong into music. She ended up in the States because everyone seemed to hate her here.
"I think they thought she was a bit chavvy, and because she was a girl people didn't like her rapping."
But she added that Sov's recent moody behaviour in the Big Brother house was down to her thinking about her mum.
Chloe said: "Sometimes on the live streaming she's just sitting there on her own and staring into space.
"I know she's thinking of Mum - and Mum knows it too when she sees her."
