If you said something like "I effing hate you" in a joking way in real life; people would pick up on that through your body language, but you don't have that on the Internet. Trying to go around it is, in my opinion, sad; there's always another way to express yourself without swearing on the forum.

That's a fair point, and I agree with you to a certain extent, however, I don't really understand the big deal regarding arguments here anyway. As far as I have noticed and experienced, the arguments that usually happen aren't rude or insulting, and people seem to argue maturely. Recently though threads have been closed just because of this, and tbh, it's like telling everyone that they MUST get on. On the subject of using other words, 'swear words' are just words, used mainly (as far as I've noticed) to enhance sentences or points.

I'm almost with you. We should just have one rule and one rule only : the rule of common sense. Just ban the trash. The way most forums work.

This is the only forum I've been to where even the minor rules are enforced like hell but the rule of common sense does not come into play. It's too by the book. You can be as much of a mongloid, fail tastic, non contributing child you want but as long as you stay within the rules it's all good.
