Sugar rots teeth. Sugar causes obesity.

Should this pernicious substance be banned?

No, but perhaps you should cut back on it. It's leading you to post bizarre threads.

Giving children sugary foods & sugary drinks is child abuse.

without thought or on a regular basis it could be said.

Any mum who lets their children go to school on coco pops regularly should be recommissioned

However if sugar is already in the food you are eating then it is okay to eat it as long as it is not in big portions really. A balaced diet and plenty of exercise is the best way

hard when your food source only stocks sugar laden food. the food is made to disguise the sugar used. marketing and advertising is aimed at children to pester their parents to buy sugar food. the supermarkets give main priority to sugar infested foods..

Well you are right about that.. but I am not going to worry because I am healthy the way I am. I am not obese, so the people who are obese who are children or adults should be looked into first because they are more at risk.

Oh god no, I would never want to be on big brother... it would completely ruin any hopes of a decent career for me lol. Plus I am currently not living in Manchester but thats my permanent home.

That's a bit strong but I am tempted to agree.......

If you take any notice of medical people FOOD itself will get banned......

All things in moderation......Even an overdose of certain vitamins can kill you......

In a healthy body sugar salt etc will be dealt with.......Diabetics and heart sufferers should avoid such. Common sense.....

Live your life according to your personal circumstances and do not fall into the trap that one size fits all....Or your life will be seriously marred.....

Diabetes being the main problem. Many on here will go on to develop it in later life if they eat too much of sugar!

hmmmm how would we control diabetes attacks short term :)

when my dad falls into a coma its easy to shove biscuits in him mouth, and good for when is gets light headed he has it on hand so no, banning sugar is daft! IMO of course...

what about all the natural occuring sugars? everything in moderation is fine my dad is a diabetic but can have small amounts of sugar if we didnt eat everything that was bad for us or scientests say not noone eat anything
no need to ban it just teach better dietary balance to people like i say everything in moderation makes for a balanced diet

Xylotil is a brillaint suppliment for those who don't have sugar; it's good for your teeth too. But no, sugar shouldn't be banned, people should just cut down that's all.

Its also good for fighting certain infections in the mouth, ear nose and throat, It is however laxative like all sugar alcohols

sure i do but ask you doctor about the rise of sugar in the last 40 years and associated cancers and major health problems.

Also ask your doctor and he will tell you about the increase in life expectancy over the years........Bit of a contradiction from the medical world saying we eat dangerously but live longer.....And before you say that is due to medical science just remember people are living longer before requiring any medical intervention.......

I think there are too many assumtions made about sugar and causing diabetes.

If your pancreas is unwell sugar sure can be deadly.........If it well then sugar is dealt with as it should be.....Diabetes runs badly in my family.......My father had type 1 via pancreatitus. My brother has type two....others have it.......

I am nearly 69 and have eaten sugary food on a massive scale all my life.......Not yet diagnosed with it fingers crossed......I do not believe sugar causes diabetes excep if you have a pancreas that is weakened.

I can vouch that sugar rotts ones teeth however so yes it is sensible to control intake of sugar.......But don't believe all that medical people claim as they change their minds as often as fashion changes......

Remember eggs high in cholestoral so say the scientists.......Having ruined the egg industry they now say they had got it wrong.......

When I was a young man scientists were predicting a new "ice" age now they say it's global warming.......When I was young they predicted automation would make everyone have hours of leasure and no need to work for two thirds of the worlds population.......Believe scientists at your peril........They mean well but like the rest of us they jump on band wagons and get their knickers in a twist......

Listen to medical advice but alway always qestion it. Make them prove what they claim......
