I know its sad but its getting a bit repetitive now, every day all over the news all we're seeing is an earthquake where people have died and people are still being dragged out. Theres only so many ways they can phrase it but now its just like "ok we get the message".

Well, it is humanitarian disaster. It's not exactly a sighting of Maddy from some random Belgian printed on the front of NOTW.

If you're talking about compassion fatigue then I guess I can see where you're coming from. I think we get used to hearing about a lot of people dying in dirt poor parts of the world like a forensic examiner gets used to the sight dead murder victims everyday.

Sorry if that sounds a bit dark, but I hope you get my meaning.

Yeah I get what you're saying, but this is the 7th or 8th day where its dominated the news and takes up at least 15 minutes of a 25 minute bulletin. I mean fair enough for the first 2-3 days but after that it gets very repetitive and loses impact

A lot of people will probably be "burying bad news" at this time. I bet the next issue of Private Eye will be a corker.

It's because it's an easy narrative for the papers and news to follow, why look for other news when you can take up a few pages or minutes with new developements each day? It's a tragedy though and the media spotlight is doing more good then harm though.

A second earthquake occured today, so, I think it needs the space in the media, its better than hearing about Jordan and her tits again anyway

tbh, people are dying, and the ones that aren't, most of their family has.
it's not hard for it to be on the news everyday. it dosen't affect you.

This Earthquake is bigger than the China one because Haiti was bad BEFORE the quake, poverty was everywhere, now the country is actually destroyed, there is nothing left, China is perfectly fine

The Only boring thing (hit the mute)

I don;t think any of us really have the right to be bored of hearing of a hugely tragic catastrophe to be honest...

Well what they keep saying is what we already know about it, and when some of us want to know what else is going on in the world we can't because every channel you put on is about Haiti. Yes its a disaster (not a catastrophe) but its time to get over it and move on. Its happened, we know pretty much all there is to know, is there any reason for them to keep dedicating so much air time to it? For example I watched todays ITV News at 1.30 and the whole thing was about Haiti ... a week on, apart from a bit at the end on Prince William that was pointless. Theres no need for it anymore.

I think its because its not the end. There was another earthquake earlier wasnt there? Not as strong though.

I think that its not over yet.

Also its the easiest thing to follow at the moment, nothing else is happening in the news, and this is by far the biggest news.

And because its doing some good, people are donating money from ALL countries, adverts on Italian channels have numbers come up to donate money to Haiti and im sure they are doing this everywhere else. Celebs are also donating money.

YOu can easily watch other things. If youre bored about people talking about Haiti, just flip the channel to something else. The digital age, allows us to do that. Switch off if something is not interesting. There is the Tennis open 24/7, there are other news channels, and Tivo, and all the different other alternatives nowadays. I can easily go online and watch any news that I deem worthy of me watching it. There are always Worldwide impacting events, that will always be bombarded in the news! (Haiti earthquake. (911, london attack, Hurricane Katrina, etc...)

If a lot of people in this world, consider, this, the most newsworthy event, even a month after the fact, I dont see whats the problem. NOt very difficult to not bother.

Personally, nothing on TV can ever get me bored these days. I am only subected to it, if I so choose to be.

**** me, how heartless are you. The entire country with a population of 146 million has been entirely demolished and you have the arrogance to say you're bored of hearing about it? I'm genuinely taken aback at how ridiculously indifferent and shallow you are to the whole thing. Naturally people want to hear about it, especially the many who have donated sums of money towards helping it.

The argument that it dominates the news and you get bored of it; well there's other sources and news stories still going on. Just because you're too lazy to go beyond whatever's "bonged" into you by ITN at 10 doesn't mean it's right for you to get bored.

Tragic lack of compassion, really. If you're bored of it, a) turn off and b) shame on you.

The news is a television show like any other and is produced as such, not as an accurate importance-o-scope to your own personal life. Disaster brings in the ratings. If your bored try online poker or something.

Then stop proving me right all the time. Think before you post, if you're unsure of a topic (say Haiti sicne it's a relevant example) look it up before you make horrific posts like your original one. People will stop treating you like an idiot when you stop being one. Sorry for the bluntness but that's it.

I do think its sad, but I don't think its justified to be still headlining a week on, well apart from today when theres been another earthquake. But then that lessens the impact of another earthquake. If it was moved to second or third or something then bumped back up to headlining then people would find it more shocking. I've nothing against updates, but when its still dominating the news and all we're finding out is "the death toll is rising" day after day, it becomes sameish and we already know.

I've got nothing to fill the gap inbetween Loose Women and 60 Minute Makeover

Big Brother is on at 10, I prefer watching it at 1.30 and 6.30. And I do sometimes look for other things, but a) I'm too lazy to read and b) every news source is the same anyway in terms of the stories
